I don't care about the bottles functionality because I use mostly syringe to fill my pens. Thought it will better for maintain hygiene.

I really like Caran d'Ache bottles both the Colors of Earth series and the Chromatics one. J. Herbin Heart shape bottle is absolutely a love. And like Sailor's bottles too. Oh and not forget J. Herbin 1670's ink bottles.

There are many nice looking bottles around, so the hunt is still on.

Diamine bottles are boring, both the 30 and 80ml regular ones.

I like the Pelikan Edelstein bottles.

But I also like make my own.

First we have my re-purposing of (Urine) sample vials. The original Camlin bottles were useless as the caps would no longer seal once opened.

Second we have up-cycling of air freshener bottles - these are near identical to J Herbin 1670 bottles so I put my own wax seal on it.

Do you have to clean and sterilize the bottles and caps? I'd be a bit worried about contamination -- especially with the air freshener bottles, since I wouldn't know what the chemicals were and how they'd react with the inks.

Wash them thoroughly. Spray them with phenol. That seems to do a great job. I've also been known to use the baby bottle sterilizer.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
