Tanna Japonesis - Sailor For Kingdom Note

Sailor makes stunning inks. It's a pity most of them are available only in Japan or through internet.

Let's take a look at amazing green ink made by Sailor for Kingdom Note shop. It's part of insects line.

Yay I'm so happy to see you reviewed this ink! It's my favorite green ink

Like you I like everything about it so it's almost always in one of my pens!

I was lucky enough to have a sample sent from a member of another forum.

This is a beautiful green.

I find, however, that when the pen is too juicy it darkens it to a very dark green and no nuances appear.

Love this color! Was sorry to hear it's no longer being made.

Hi stonezebra, I think the ink was sold out and removed from the website but the good news is that it is currently available again! Check out this thread:

Also around the end of January I asked Atsu if Kingdom Note had any plans to discontinue it and he checked with the store and they said that "it is not a limited ink" and that they had no plans to discontinue it. Thank goodness! :bunny01:

Glad the samples arrived safely Vis! And glad you are enjoying the Tanna.

As stated, the ink is not discontinued. But it is quite expensive due to all the extra shipping.

I happily stand corrected! That's for the info. :D

Thanks for posting this. I have been considering getting the Kingdom Note inks. This is an interesting green.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

  • 1 month later...

It's lighter in drier nibs. Here I've filled Kaweco Al Sport with B nib with it. Al Sport is not as wet as is Sport Classic turned into eyedropper. Nice ink.

I feel like I'm the only one not moved by this popular Japanese ink -_- . I had it, tested it and promptly used it in a trade for an Edison fountain pen.

I do love this ink & chose it when I received a Pelikan M600 White Tortoise with OBB nib for it's initial "fill up." I recently dug out a bottle of Stipula Verde Muschiato for another new pen & enjoy it's similar but darker hue. Noodler's Burma Road Brown is also a pleasant murky green ink but doesn't compare to this one. I think the Tortoise may be on a steady diet of this ink.

The color looks like a perfect match for (US) military green, olive drab (OD). I favor the greens, particularly those toward the yellow end of the range, and I'm getting a little fatigued (nyuk, nyuk) with colors being brought to my attention that I want to buy. Halt!

Lol, this made me giggle because I am exactly the same...cannot help myself, that colour just speaks to me.

Great review, as always Vis x

  • 1 year later...

I had a sample of this from a good while back that was given to me. I tried it in finer nibs, and it didn't do much for me. But ah, with the right (wetter) pen it is glorious. I wish I had some of this ink.

Awesome! I'm in the process of preparing my bag for our pen meet this weekend and I literally have none of the items you mention!! I'll see if I can find one or two!

@asota -- Yeah, I think I have a few rolls in my fridge that are probably 20-30 years old at this point (don't remember now if they are B&W or color film) and don't even really know where to get the film processed, once the drive through kiosks went away....  I just did a quick Google search and (in theory) there was a place the next town over from me -- but got a 404 error message when I tried to click on the link....  Ruth Morrisson aka inkstainedruth

There is still chemistry for processing regular chrome (positive) films like Kodak Ektachrome and Fuji Velvia, but Kodachrome was a completely different and multistep beast.
    • Ceilidh
Ah, but how to get it processed - that is the question. I believe that the last machine able to run K-14 (Kodachrome processing) ceased to operate some 15 or so years ago. Perhaps the film will be worth something as a curiosity in my estate sale when I die. 😺

Take a lot of photos!   If the film has deteriorated or 'gone off' in any way, you can use that as a 'feature' to take 'arty' pictures - whether of landmarks, or people, or whatever.
