Liking this one far more than I expected (and please disregard the 'recieved' typo!):

Nice review... Great ink.I find it quite subtle. Sort of a mix between dark blue and blue-black. Good chores for the nibs and papers etc.

Nioi-sumire is one of the less popular in the Four Seasons line. It's a decent blurple, but maybe not special enough to compete with the other inks in the line like Yama-dori, Shigure, Oku-yama...

It definitely doesn't stand out like those other inks do, but I'll take its performance over that of Yama-dori, which gives my pens nothing but problems. I think there's room in a collection for solid, reliable blues like this one. I feel like, sometimes, I'm so focused on getting hold of Sailor's "special" inks that I lose sight of the more serviceable ones...

I agree with gylyf, this is a very well behaved ink and I find it calming to use. It might not have razzle-dazzle but I like everything about it and that counts for something. I actually rank this one in my top three favourites of the new Sailor Jentle line.

The praise of the praiseworthy is above all rewards.

  • 4 years later...

I know this is an old thread but I though that this might be helpful...

Depending on the nib (I have found) the perceived colour on the more "normal" paper varies significantly.

Below I have an example on 80 gm copy paper. On the better quality papers for instance Rhodia, the colour is near identical, weirdly enough...

Maybe just something to keep in mind maybe?

The top, bottom and right was done with a Montblanc 146 Medium nib and the two sandwiched in the middle with a Sonnet Medium (18k) nib.
