A Warning About Pen Cleaning!

Do NOT get distracted and leave your beautiful pens with gorgeous celluloid bindes in a water bath for several hours.

I am too sad and ashamed to post a picture of my White 400 Torty Pelikan. The binde shrank and seam pulled away near the section. Of course, the pen will still write. Of course, if you don't look at that side of the pen, it's still a beautiful pen. Looking at the seam side of the binde, however...

sadness.

(pics added below for education of others despite my shame)

Thank you for sharing.

I have soaked many of my FPs over time throughout the years.

Now I will consider this practice more closely.

Some of my pens.

If you're able to later, you might consider a custom binde from http://www.custom-bindes.com/

This.

Mr. Dante beat me to it. I understand that you are in "resource discretion mode" at the moment, so I won't tell you that you simply have to do it. When the time comes that you might consider it, I think it would be a fine resolution to the issue by having a parallel to a caterpillar that transforms into a butterfly - let the mishap be a conduit to a rebirth.

Or something. Chris makes some beautiful bindes, and you'd have a pen pretty much like no one else. Until then, hey, things happen.
