Written In Blood - A Useful Comparison

I confess I'm a little on the morbid side, but if you ever wanted to know what a letter written in blood really looks like, The History Blog has posted a letter written by Dr. Alexander Monro in the blood of the notorious murderer and resurrectionist William Burke. post-118146-0-66189000-1431019613_thumb.jpg

It looks a lot like Iroshizuku Yama-Guri to me.

Interesting. Kind of like Noodler's Antietam in parts (especially the first line or two) and Yama-guri in parts.

You're right - Interesting, but morbid.

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

Interesting story. Thanks for the posts. I will stick to Mont Blanc Hitchcock and Corn Poppy Red and Diamine Oxblood when I want blood-colored ink. Although Antietam and Yama-guri are good suggestions.

Human blood is harder to come by and there are all those regulations and laws to deal with.

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.

It's interesting that old inks seem to fade to a very similar color - here's an example:

FYI to the noobies : DON'T put anything but fountain pen ink into your

fountain pen.

I once had to clean out dried orange juice from a junk sale. Don't fill your pen with orange juice.
