As usual, I have no association with this project, and I'm not commenting on the quality of the product one way or the other. I'm just bringing it to the attention of those of you who might be interested. ;)

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'm surprised in a very nice way, as I once read a great site about old Bohemian fountain pens, including those fitted with glass nibs. No cap though?

Confirmed no caps by the creator on the kickstarter comments. Although she mentioned maybe caps will be incorporated the "edition 2"

Shucks, otherwise I would be backing this project.

I didn't think there was a cap, even before it was specifically stated. The nature of it being glass in both body and nib struck me as something for desk use? I'll be keeping it on my desk hopefully!

I think this is the fourth or fifth 'new topic' posted talking about this pen. I think I might buy it for its historical value if it flops.

No cap makes it nothing close to portable. I'll see how it does and maybe pick one up once it hits the (virtual) store shelves. I have a rule against buying complex hardware on Kickstarter, I've seen too many overly ambitious products fail because people underestimated the enormous task of production. I usually stick to digital goods, but I once backed a board game (because it's tough to screw up paper products in scale), just for this reason.

EDIT: I just saw they're promising delivery of the pen by July. I guarantee you this project is not going to make that date, especially if their backing ends on June 1.

I agree, I would be stunned if it delivered by July. I wish these projects would have reasonable delivery dates. August/September seems more logical and realistic to me.

in the end it's just a glass nib pen with a converter attached to it, one can actually convert one of these old japanese beauties into one and the same... yes we do know they had lever filler glass nib pens out there, besides the usual crescent filler type

but it's not like one can commission from one of our pen turners...

I saw this a week or so ago and was THRILLED. I've been hunting for a glass nibbed pen that has some sort of ink feeding system (not dip) for a long time, and they actually come up pretty rarely on ebay for a reasonable price and also in workable condition. As soon as I get paid next week, I'm going to buy one. :)

I was just about to hit "Pledge" when I realized there's no cap, and it's not retractable. This makes it of very little use to me...unfortunately.

Apparently a cap is being researched. I like the idea, but without a cap it really can't go anywhere so it would end up tethered to a desk. She did have some logic to the reason she isn't doing a cap but if you use a fountain pen at all you know you have to clean it cap or not! I think the first time I broke the glass nib would sour me on it. I have a glass dip pen, I really like it but it is in it's box when I'm not using it and I clean it after every use.
