Hello all from a new member.

 

Just getting back into pens. In grad school I saved my pennies until I could buy a Pelikan 120??? from the University of Iowa bookstore. Then in the early 1980’s a friend knew of a small town in Illinois that had a drugstore with NOS stock from the 50’s. We drove down and I got a nice Parker Vacumatic that I used for many years. Unfortunately those pens have been lost to the winds of time and former girlfriends!

 

Later in the early 80’s my boss went to Germany and bought me a beautiful MB149 with a bold nib. Again, I used that for many years then put it away as divorce and moves happened.

 

A few months ago I heard the call of fountain pens again and dusted off the MB149. I was feeding it MB green ink but I just wasn’t feeling it. (I’d appreciate some ink suggestions for that pen) I found out about Chinese fountain pens and bought too many bad ones but did find the Jinhao 159 that I really like. Thanks to FPN I learned that I could change the nib and I put a Jowo 1.1 stub on it which made it a great pen.

 

I’m in San Diego, so if anyone else lives in “America’s Finest City” please p.m. me.

Welcome back to the world of fountain pens! I have a MB 146, and really enjoy using the MB Midnight Blue in it. It's a great dark blue/black. Best wishes!
