I just ordered mine, that was a hard deal to pass up. The deal was sealed with the "Beer" refills. Now I can look classy while I'm out "tasting". Thanks for the initial post even if it took me awhile to find!

I received my $9.95 journal last week... here are some pictures:

I'm actually contemplating using this as a simple wallet. I have some cash, ID, and debit card in the pocket.

I actually don't like the paper that came with it, so I made a new insert with some paper that the company I work for makes... it's 28lb color copy paper, it is ridiculously smooth, yet it takes FP ink very nicely. I just added it to the second strap that was included.

I didn't even bind my paper, I just trimmed, creased, and put it in the journal.

Good to know. I may try that! Thanks.

I've actually had really good experience so far with the Arches paper. The only pen that doesn't behave well is my Kaweco AL Sport M nib (which is sadly my EDC pen, so I may need to fix this somehow). Everything else, from my cheapest Chinese pens and Chibi, to my Pelikan M600, writes wonderfully on the textured paper.

It's a thick, textured paper so very fine and/or dry pens will not work as well. It's gorgeous paper, but if your pen doesn't work so well on cotton paper it won't work as well on this. Wetter and/or thicker pens will work better.

Maybe it's a lefty thing... or texture. I don't know.. I don't have any fine nibs in my collection. I just didn't enjoy the writing experience on it, it felt chunky and not smooth. It also appeared to not dry very quickly with several of my inks.

It definitely is pretty paper, just not my thing, I guess.

Fortunately it's totally simple to make your own from paper you like.

I don't know about this. The first thing I wrote in my I did so using a pointed dip nib. Didn't seem to be too problematic. Perhaps there is variation in the paper?

I also use an Esterbrook SJ with a 9550 nib (extra fine). It's scritchy scratchy - but I love it and I can write small to conserve the wonderful paper. So - as with most things - your mileage may vary :)

I'll agree with others who say that their fine nibs work just (wait for it) fine. YMMV.

I just ordered one. I can't wait! I now wish I bought extra inserts, though. Boo.

I have been a big fan of Renaissance Art for leather journal covers and now my shoulder bag. Now, the meister and owner Arthur is giving leather journals for free to those who have never used his shop. Please do not miss this precious chance! Probably you will need to pay a shipping fee, but it will be worth to do.

Many thanks for posting this link offer - I visited, I looked & I bought .... I know the journal cover & a fill are free (just the postage to pay) but I got three plain refills as well :-) ... It arrived in the UK today and, though I've not tried the paper out yet, the rest of it i.e. the journal itself and the refill holder 'bag', are great. The refill bag / pouch really is worth buying a set of refills for on it's own!! No choice option on this but their taste is excellent - a delightful touch. Also thanks to Arthur of Renaissance Art for the great free offer - yes I will get more from him as time goes by.

Just got mine and haven't had a chance to untie the thong and play. Yummy buttery softness

I got mine and love it. The paper seemed like it wouldn't work well with my current pocket pen (fine nib) but wrote surprisingly well.

I'm planning to change my iPhone case to a belt mount, to open a pocket up for this beauty.

Couldn't resist the offer, and am looking forward to receiving the journal. I write with a Townsend pen, medium nib, and think the combination will work just fine. The pictures you folks have posted really make me very happy that I found the offer, with a little help from this great FP resource.
