Movie: The Secret Of Kells, For Anyone Interested In Animation, Illustration, Calligraphy Or Paleography

After watching "Song of the Sea" a beautifully animated movie about selkies (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1865505/) I was reminded that Tomm Moore's previous movie was another fabulous animation about the Book of Kells (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485601/).

 

If you're a lover of animation and illustration, and know anything about the Book of Kells, or are a fan of Celtic mythology, I highly recommend this unusual movie, which features the (slightly) famous cat Pangur Ban. Haunting music. Terrifying barbarian raid. Refreshingly non 3D.

It is a nice movie to watch, especially with under 11 children. Saw it with my at the time 8 yr old son; we enjoyed it a lot.

I’m sad to discover that I check all the boxes and I’ve still never seen the film.

 

Even sadder: I probably trained a few of the guys who made it.
