Sailor Miruai (2014)

This is a review of the 2014 edition of the Sailor Miruai ink. Before I came on the FP scene, Sailor had introduced this color as a limited edition, seasonal color. Many people kept asking, when will Sailor bring back Miruai? Apparently, the Sailor Ink Gods are more fickle than those of Mount Olympus. When Sailor revamped their Western ink lineup, Miruai made the cut, but beloved Epinard was removed from the inky party. Instantly the search was on for the last bottles. I never had the Epinard, or the earlier edition of Miruai, so I cannot compare.

While blues and blacks dominate my inks, murky greens find a welcome home. They are for me very soothing. I'm not so concerned if they lean blue or yellow, so long as they are murky, and not bright. The exceptions are very rare.

As always, Sailor inks are relatively wet. Under artificial light the ink is quite green, deep, and rich. Under natural light it appears darker, more green-black. Hopefully these pictures come out ok, and not too dark. I'll have to check them in the morning.

I like this ink. It really sheens on TR paper. Thank you for sharing!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Although this is not one of the more popular Four Seasons inks, I think Sailor really managed to capture the black-green colour of seaweed with this ink, and the silver sheen mimics the way seaweed glistens as the light filtering down through the water dances off the waving strands of seaweed.

Thank you for another great review! I love the flow and smoothness of this ink! Here is a closeup of the sheen I get from it on rhodia using a wet flexi pen

I like Sailor ink and I really like this one. And it is easily acquired in the USA!

I'm still trying to figure out how to list all my pens down here.
