Very 'cute' Pens?

Gizumi

Recommended Posts

I have a pastel blue Pilot Kakuno, which as you can see I've decorated with vomit-inducing stickers of joy and sparkles. While I do have and use more elegant-looking pens, privately I prefer the cute style and bright colors of my Kakuno. I am thinking of getting another pen to join my lonesome blue one, but most of the pens I see are gorgeous and elegant instead of cute. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Not sure I understand your definition of cute.. since by your own words you enhance cuteness with vomit inducing stickers.

I'll will suggest to stick to pinks/yellows and flowers/butterflies... but what do I know? :)

Well, that part is really intended as a jab at myself - I am well-aware of how childish and girly the aesthetic is, so it was a (rather poor) attempt at self-deprecation. Not to mention I'm sure a lot of people here would find pastels and sparkles appalling, haha. Though I don't really like butterflies and pinks, just cats and pastels.

This I could go for... Nakaya rolling stopper cat, with sapphire eyes.

Can't get much cuter than my Platinum Preppy Hello Kitty LE fountain Pens. Which I will get around to doing a review of, soon.

Here's the red one I use for grading.

Just be careful of the fakes on eBay. (Who knocks off a USD 5 pen?)

My wife has both of these. Cute as buttons (and blessed with wonderful Sailor nibs)!

Too many pens; too little writing.

I'm not sure which is scarier -- that there really are several different *brands* of "Hello Kitty" FPs, or that theres's a LE one for the 40th Anniversary.... :yikes:

I'll admit that when I saw the thread header, I thought of really little pens; I have an Arnold lever fill celluloid mini-pen that is about 3-1/2", capped. It's currently not working, because I need to re-sac it, and I'm just hoping that the size sac I got is a small enough one.

Other than that, I tend to avoid "cutesy" -- too many years having been a tomboy, not a "girly" girl. Although I did go through the phase of making circles to dot my "i"s in middle school.

There is a pilot pen that has a smiley face on the nib, but I forgot which model that was.

The new limited edition Safari with the teddy bear is really cute too, but good luck getting your hands on one!

Current Wishlist:

Visconti, Visconti, and...more Visconti! (And some ST Duponts too). (Ok fine, getting on the Omas and Montblanc trains now too. Toot toot.) (And maybe on the Montegrappa one too, but only for the Miyas.)

My goodness, I need that pen! I will go find some reviews for it, that cat is just gorgeous. Thank you for all the suggestions, Cyber6 :D

I'm not the biggest fan of Hello Kitty but those are seriously making me consider giving in to it. Those nibs are wonderful! Do they live up to the good name of Sailor, too?

I admit I love never been much of a girly girl as a kid, either. My youth has predominantly been steampunk and wizards, but lately I've just been all over lace and ribbons and sweet things. Don't ask me why though, I have no idea!

If you search eBay for "pen topper" at this writing you get 353 hits: balls of fur, flowers, trolls (nonthreatening, possibly "cute" trolls), animals, smiley faces, etc. for that extra touch of kitsch. If you're going to be capping and uncapping your pen a lot however, applying a big ball of pastel (see, I'm paying attention) fur could prove yet more annoying than it already is.

First post. The clue is in the picture... :)

Gizumi - not cute as such, but maybe a pink Pilot Prera would go well with your Kakuno? Or a Pilot Petit1? I do check Ebay now and again for Hello Kitty, Miffy and Rilakkuma fountain pens, but most are bargain-basement pens - though there are Hello Kitty versions of the Platinum Preppy and the Pilot Coleto multipen. Since the Sailor Hello Kitty pens are discontinued, perhaps stickers and washi tape are the way to go.

There's a thread about J-Subculture, which would be a very inexpensive way to get a Prera or a Coleto. They have loads of kawaii stuff including Miffy handcream, so you might want to take a look even if you think the fountain pens there are humdrum.

I like cats, too, but I find that I can't eat a whole one. Never took to pastels.....

I just found the pen you're talking about.

IT'S SO MUCH MONEY ON EBAY but I've decided that I need this pen. So badly. Was it only just released?!

Yikes, I just searched for it on eBay but some of those things are the stuff of nightmares! I can't even like them ironically. It does give me some ideas, though, so thank you for the suggestion!!

Thank you for the thread link! The prices on J-Subculture is ridiculously cheap. I have a light blue Prera demonstrator that I bought for ~$30, but these are $20..... I might be able to get the whole collection!

(And looking at it from a proper computer, I'm starting to grow a bit more on that sparkly pen....That nib has a heart-shaped breather hole! It's Korean, isn't it?)

Maybe a Sailor Clear Candy? (Though I have both the Clear Candy and Kakuno, and I think the Kakuno is the better choice.)

I really like the Line x Safari (mainly for the cute bear clips! :D), but the price not so much.

I was once a bottle of ink, Inky Dinky Thinky Inky, Blacky Minky Bottle of Ink!
