I was browsing a pen selection and came at a cross road for a cheap pen stand off between the parker frontier and the pilot metropolitan, they're a similar price range and I've owned the metro, what do you guys think?

Buy the Parker Frontier too. Buy the flighter version. Both are good pens for theier prices. The frontier is a little more pricely though.

I agree, get them both. If you go for a used Frontier, make sure the section cover is ok. This is a relatively thin layer of neoprene that sometimes just gets loose and is quite difficult to repair.

They are very similar pens. You will have similar experiences with both of them. The Pilot should be cheaper, and I think a better looking pen..

I recently bought two UK made Frontier GT flighters and I fell in love with them. Smooth and good writers. I have the Pilot MR and a USA made Frontier from the 90s. But these UK made flighter GT frontiers have really changed my perception about the pen. Love them.

I've never tried the Metro however have 3 frontiers. The Frontier is able to compete above it's price point as the nib is superior to any other budget orientated pen I've tried I imagine it is probably better then the MR nib too. I will have to disagree with Ryan as I think the design of the frontier is more attractive then the Pilot I don't like patterned bands on the Metro.

Sorry to chip in late. Only just seen this as I received my first Parker Frontier via Amazon today. I've been using a Vector fountain pen for a while at work now , and wanted to try another budget Parker pen. Out of the packet it wrote as scratchy as barbed wire, but after adjusting the nib it now writes like a hot knife through butter!

It feels more like a fountain pen than my Parker Vector, if you get my drift? Both nibs are medium, but the Frontier writes more like a Sharpie marker pen in comparison. Very thick and wet! I love it though.
