I love the Micarta! I have own many Busse Combat knives with Micarta handle scales, and it's just a pleasure to hold. I may try to dig one of these up, one day. Very unique pen. It's CC filling system, correct?

I also love my Micarta. It's a Pendelton Brown butter stub with the torched nib. I normally don't like big pens but I make a definite exception for this pen. So far I've only used Sailor Jentle inks: epinard (which I called my "spinach in Brown butter combo), and currently grenade.

 

I would love to have more pens made of this material but I understand it was not easy to do.

 

Mine is the clip less version and I wouldn't mind getting one with a clip. The only issue is the converter. I wish it was a more solid connection. But a small price to pay for a great, unique pen.

Yes the pen is a CC filler.

 

I also love micarta, and Busse knives are great.

I walked into Duly Noted in Halifax ns today looking for a pen that fit me. I asked if they had any TWSBIs and the young lady said "only one," and she set a Micarta ef on the counter. It was love at first sight. Its lines varied just right, it balanced and weighed perfect in my hand, and it looks like a workhorse, not some pen I'd be afraid of scratching. First ink is Noodler's G.I.

i'll just add this to this thread so i don't have to open another one, but here are two mods i made to my micarta that seem to be working very well:

 

1. a 14c swan eternal #4 M nib that fits just fine; and

 

2. a parker "slide" converter.

I own a Micarta 2 with the EF nib. The pen is great to write with and I really like the feel of the material.

 

I would use it a lot more but for the fact that it consistently gushes the contents of the reservoir, either into the cap overnight, or all over the page that I am writing on. I have never experienced such unreliability in a fountain pen before.

 

I note that many other people have noted this to be an issue with TWSBI pens. This simply should not occur in a reasonably expensive pen - is there a fix for this or does one have to play TWSBI roulette every time you fill the thing up?
