Faber-Castell Loom - Simple And Classy

The more I use it the more I love it. I want another one! The nib reminds me of my Rotring 600 - no flex at all but very smooth, but with enough of the right kind of feedback. (I think actually, that I don't like nibs that flex much with the exception perhaps of my Pilot VP which I does have a bit of spring and I to like it. )

I have several Loom's with EF nibs. Excellent writers.. some of the cheapest and best performing EF nibs available.

I've bought three used Faber-Castell Loom Piano for the price of one on ebay. I love them so much, even though they're heavy and I end up with aching fingers at the end of the day because I'm stubborn and I don't want to switch to lighter pens.

Now I want to complete the Piano set with the Lime Green cap version. If you have one and want to part from it, my message box is open!

You can make Looms section less slippery with micromesh. Does not really affect the visual outlook of the pen.

I'll try that. The pen is lovely in it's metallic finish, but impossible for me to use without first applying a generous amount of Working Hands moisturizing cream before I even pick it up. Impossibly slippery. If this tip works I'll keep it. Otherwise, it's a goner, and it's extremely unusual for me to give up on a pen.

I have a couple of Looms and find them to be excellent pens - great nibs, good balance, very robust.

Neither have a slippery grip. I guess there are variants with a shiny section and variants with a textured section.

Faber Castell make some of the best steel nibs I’ve come across.

I managed to win a a Faber Castell Loom medium nib fountain pen from flea bay.
The nib was wet and smooth, but the grip section started to worry me as I realised I could not use this for long periods of note taking.
This pen would have been a real winner if Faber Castell machined ‘thumb type grooves/ indentations’ in to the grip section to make it significantly more comfortable to hold.
I sold it eventually. The grip was a deal breaker.
