Hello friends ,

BAAZ is back with a new FPN .....

Yesterday one new acrylic beauty received .. Mohi Tanishq eyedropper fountain pen

Thanks to my buddy residing at Aurangabad , India

After receiving pictures of this pen from Mr Pathak from Abhay pens , I couldn't resist myself from ordering one

This time also enjoying quality of a CNC turned fountain pen

Details :

This pen is a pocket size pen , smaller than Mohi Harmony pen

Cap : Classic looking flat top cap with steel ornaments like cap ring and clip . Square shaped clip with sufficient spring tension ok for a daily use pen . Cap posts well . Screw on cap unscrews in 2 turns

Section : 11 mm dia with hump to prevent slipping . Perfect design for a medium size fellow like me. Comfortable for long writing sessions Fine threads 10 mm length and tight fit with barrel to avoid ink burping .

Barrel : Smoothly turned and finished , having a large ink window for easy viewing of ink level . "Mohi tanishq:" letters are painted on barrel . Overall solidly built

Nib and feed : Ebonite feed having different design than regular Indian feeds supporting for a good wet ink flow.

Nid is engraved "Iridum point Germany" , writes between fine and medium. At first stage I fount it scratchy then I have performed some tuning tricks like grinding on fine oilstone , then it started writing well

Writing example attached with some devnagari script .

Price : "0" INR for me , as everytime it is not necessary to give money to close friends .....But as per feedback from him approximately up to 500/- INR

Conclusion : A truly well crafted pen. I have loaded it with my favourite Pelikan 4001 Royal Blue with 1/3 rd ink level intentionally , but found no ink burping/skipping . Rigid yet attractive design . Thanks to Mr Pathak ..

I hope you all will enjoy this review , comments are always welcome as usual ..

Sincerely ,

BAAZ

Congratulations on your new acquire.

I have this feed in my most of customs pens made by Guider and Ratnam pens. If I'm not wrong this is number 5 feed and it helps to prevent ED burping issue very well. I guess this feed is made in bulk by some manufacturer in Kanpur.

I liked the pen as such.... have to hold it though to get an exact idea.... one thing i want to ad ... that branding...which looks like its painted... kills the look of the pen.... doesn't look nice at all

Hi Baaz, Nice review. As my friend bk notes, it is a standard Ebonite feeder used with Indian no 5 nibs. Personally, I have not seen this feeder on a Guider or a Ratnam/Ratnamson (On the pens that I have, they have used a feeder without the rear channel) but I have this feed on several of my smaller Deccans.

One query: is the screw holding the top of the clip slightly off-centre? is that a machining problem with the cap top or is the cap top's threading off centre?

Also have they used multi-start threads for the barrel-cap?

Regarding the imprint on the barrel, it is standard screen printing, which easily comes off for people who might dislike an overly deep or a loud engraving.

Best

Hari

I have not handled a Mohi in person.

the off center cap hole can be due to improper alignment of job on the CNC?

It seems that cap hole is not drilled in same setup on CNC . Hole is drilled and tapped on a drill press.
