Ink Review: J Herbin Rouge Bourgogne

Chrissy

Recommended Posts

I have decided to review some of my inks. These aren't necessarily in any particular order.

This one is J.Herbin Rouge Bourgogne.

  • This isn't a waterproof or an archival ink
  • Bearing in mind the paper I use is very smooth, this ink took 10-12 secs to dry.
  • It flows reasonably dry but lubricates the nib quite well.
  • It is currently available in packs of 4 x 10ml small glass bottles and 30ml glass bottles.
  • It's available from many B&M shops and online retailers worldwide.

Thank you for your comments. I agree that it would be a very nice ink for a Valentine's Day card and envelope. I've used a similar scented J. Herbin ink for that purpose, an older one called simple "rose."

I just wish the name evoked the color more accurately. But it's a pleasing color.

Am normally not a fan of pink, but this looks quite good! Thanks to both of you, Julie and Chrissy. This is going on my list of ink wishes.
