Anyone Ever Get An Unnamed, Weird, Cheapie, Which Turned To Be A Lovely Writer?

The pen displayed in the OP looks like a different finish version of a Levenger pen I own (Mach somenumberorother), but coupled with a vewy vewy cheap Wing Sung nib.

But my favorite, a truly no-name black pen that came with a nib-smoothing kit, is an amiable, wet writer that can handle even glitterfied inks.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Yes, there's an aluminum-looking finish Levenger just like that on ebay now but I was going to say that I saw one like that also on ebay yesterday but it was a shiny chrome and was unidentified I believe.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

So, has anyone else ever got a nameless, brandless, slightly odd pen, for not a lot of cash, and found it to be a pretty good one?

I'll join the throng and say, "yes!"

That's what I mostly look for, very inexpensive fountain pens that write quite well.

One I'll single out is a no-name piston filler that I bought from someone here on FPN a couple of years ago. The nib has no tipping material, just a folded tip, and it's not folded over, as most such pens are, the tines are just flattened out against each other. Had I known the nib was like that I'd have never bought it, but I didn't know, and I bought it for under $3, I think. I expected the pen to either not write at all or be useless because of extreme scratchiness. Turns out that after just a little bit of writing with it the pen writes quite nicely, the cap seals very well and I'll probably get a lot of use out of it before the folded nib gives out.

I also have some Sheaffer cartridge pens, but I always liked those, used them in school decades ago, and I carry a Dollar pen around all the time. The Dollar and the Sheaffers I consider to be above the class of the no-name piston filler. I also bought some pens that were marketed as Reform Student fountain pens some years ago. They were also under $3 pens. I was quite surprised to find that almost all of them wrote very well indeed :happycloud9: .

On a sacred quest for the perfect blue ink mixture!
