Quink Queries

Hello everyone. Due to the generosity of Siaran (I don't know if she's on here or just the Facebook group, but if she is, hi Siaran and thanks again - you are awesome! Diolch yn fawr iawn!) I've ended up with quite a few red and green Quink cartridges, which have fast become amongst my favourite examples of each colour (the red is third only to Diamine Matador and Noodler's American Eel Red Rattler, edging Diamine Monaco Red into fourth, whereas the green is possibly the best green I've ever seen - better even than J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage). Sadly, these big ink cartridges seem to be no longer in production.

Anyway, three questions:

  1. Do they still produce these colours as bottled ink?
  2. Do they make green mini ink cartridges?
  3. Are the newish mini red cartridges the same as the older big ones?

Many thanks!

Sorry to bump my own thread. I think I've found answers to the first two questions, which are sadly 'no' and 'no'. Does anyone have experience of the mini red cartridges?

They will fit Parker pens in the same way as the older long cartridges, if that's what you mean. I tend not to use cartridges in my Parker pens (other than my Duofold Mini). Others may be able to give a better answer.

Sorry, I didn't explain myself too well. I meant the actual ink inside - is it the same glorious dark red as the old big cartridges/bottles?

And yeah, I'm absolutely with you on the cartridge issue, but Quinks red and green are no longer produced in bottles, and the latter not at all.

I'm always surprised if someone like Quink... I really love Parker fountain pens, but my opinion is their ink is kind of really not worth to mention. Although I suggest to look around, because probably there are a lot of red and green bottle around there.

I think the insipid nature of their washable blue and black inks puts a lot of people off. I really like the blue black, red and green because they have incredible shading. The red in particular has an incredible sheen and seems to outline all your letters in black. Well worth it.

I agree with that. Bottles of Red and Green are still available on eBay, with the Green quite a lot more expensive than the Red.

You can still find them in departmental stores in Malaysia, though they're very much dwindling (because I love the reds and greens, so I buy them if I feel like stocking up).

The red bottles are very hard to find in North America - I think they are still available in Europe though. I loved the green, but a pen seller has just told me it is no longer distributed, at least in my neck of the woods. It's no longer listed on the Parker web site. I find this really frustrating. I have been using Quink green for years as it is a well behaved ink.

What pen company has only three inks in production, two of them being blue? Thanks, Newell-Rubbermaid. At least Waterman inks are still available (under their wonderful "modern" names - Mysterious blue, anyone? - sorry for the rant).

Both red and green seem to be available in bottles via K Direct on Amazon UK at £9.99 each. More than they should be, but still cheap if you like them.

I agree, they are both nice inks.

According to Parker webpage they do not sell red and green mini ink cartridges, but you can find old stocks.
