Kaweco Sport all the way. Compact, but good size when posted. Very nice Bock nibs for the money. An Altoids tin or prescription bottle of cartridges, throw it in your pocket and you're off.

The aluminium ones are indestructible. Sebastian Gutberlet ran his over with his car, and I believe dropped it down an elevator shaft, 'by accident', and it kept on ticking.

If you can use a lanyard you could look at the Lamy Nexx - meets most of your requirements, and has a removable nib to make it easier to clean out if your waterproof ink ever dries out in the pen!

I just got a Lamy Logo in matte stainless. It's going to be my new work pen. Carrying it around the house and on a walk with my daughter today went very well. It's a thin, light aluminum pen with a very secure snap cap, and it's made to post. It has a fabulous, functional, comfortable spring-loaded clip, as well. The entire package is very secure and handsome. What a slept on little pen. I'll post again after taking it to work tomorrow.

One thing to take into account about the Cross Bailey is that it doesn't post. Does not. Doesn't matter how hard you jam the cap on the back, it doesn't post. I think it should take a converter though.

EDIT: One good thing about it is that the cap holds on tight when you close the pen. I doubt this will come uncapped in your pocket.

Bailey's are sneaky. It "feels" like it is stuck on good, then just as you're getting well into the first sentence the cap goes flying across the room.

It might make for a good betting game, though. How many letters will get written before the cap flies off?

Preppys are good cheap pens. I got a 7-pack (7 colors) for about $3 a pen.

Never argue with drunks or crazy people.

Let me give you a 'vintage' suggestion - Parker 45. Slip cap, not screw threads. Excellent writer. Carts or converter. Tough as anything. Fantastic writers.

I personally don't regard these as real 'vintage' since they were available new till this century.

Kaweco sport is a great pen but has threads. Safari also a great option but I find a bit of a dry writer.

Or just ... more Varsities. Why not?

Too many pens, too little time!

Pelikan Twist would be my recommendation.

Made from the thickest plastic I've seen on a pen, and doesn't have a clip to snap off. Nice smooth nib with good flow and cheaper than a Safari.
