Visconti Ink Bottle(S) Dimensions

Intellidepth

Recommended Posts

Hi, I purchased an antique inkwell in the shape of a knight's helmet (with neck). It has no liner but a 'martini glass' shaped Visconti ink bottle may fit perfectly.

Would someone be so kind as to measure their Visconti bottle(s) for me and post up the dimensions please? I know they have a variety of versions in glass and plastic.

I'm seeking the base diameter, height to first curve outward, height to maximum curve outward, total height including lid, and maximum diameter of the bottle towards the top. It would be helpful if a pic were able to be posted to show me which edition of the bottle has been measured.

Thank you.

I pulled out my bottle and a ruler and got:

base diameter: 40mm (36mm square)

height to first curve out: 20mm

height at maximum curve out: 46mm

total height including lid: 174mm

maximum diameter: 65mm (58mm square)

I don't have a proper camera to give you a picture, but the bottle I have (the blue) is plastic. I bought it last November, so it is a fairly recent edition.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. That version appears to be too big a base and top dia - heights are all fine. I wonder if the older glass bottles have a smaller base dia.

The max base dia the inkwell can handle is 22mm and top dia 45-50mm. Wonder if Visconti ever put out any miniatures?

I have both Visconti bottles here at work. Rough measurements with a ruler of the glass bottle are:

Base diameter 33 mm

Maximum diameter 58 mm

Height 65 mm

Cap outside diameter 30 mm

The glass bottle is a little smaller in maximum size than the plastic and looks much better!

Good luck with your search.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for taking the time to measure. Seems like the Visconti bottles aren't an option then. I'll keep thinking.
