Help! Request From A Newbie!

Hey there everybody!

 

i just ordered my very own monteverde impressa (broad nib) but don't have a very good handle on how to get going. is there anyway you guys here could help me out a bit?

 

I was going to ask some more talented hands to provide an example I can work to re-create and then later personalize and make my own. Id rather take direction from the experts, if you know what I mean

 

The three separate texts I am wanting to write are "YOSPOS" , "TANE" and "CHOME"

 

silly, yes, but it's for an art project and Id like to get going on it!

I'm no expert, so hopefully someone will come along and help you out. However, I'm not sure it's clear what exactly you are wanting. The pen you mention has a steel nib not suited to pointed pen calligraphy. You could draw the forms but they will not have the heavily shaded areas you see in examples posted on this subforum.

 

Are you wanting to simply know what those three words in your post look like in a calligraphic hand so that you can recreate them? If so, what styles of calligraphy are you interested in? Copperplate? Spencerian? A more modern form?

 

If you're not sure, you may be able to get some ideas from a font generator like this one.

Just typed in my name. The fonts are really interesting. Now, the duh moment question for you. What is this font generator used for routinely? Do you just download and then what? Marvel like long ago when the spray paint dried on a particular subway train or wall you just tagged? (no, never participated, just recall when graffiti was not considered art).

It's just a means to see the fonts in real text before deciding to download (they're free). You can download them to use in MS Word, Adobe Illustrator, or any other text or graphics editor.
