Seitz-Kreuznach Navy Blue

Cyber6

Recommended Posts

There is a NEW Ink Player out there. Seitz-Kreuznach is offering good value for their ink. In summary:

  • Most of them are medium-wet
  • Decent water resistance
  • Colors are vibrant.. except Flamingo Pink
  • Warning: with a broad wet pen, you WILL get show through and some bleed through

Water Test (20 seconds under running water) ... Impressive!!!

Am I right in that there doesn't seem to be a teal/green element in this, the way there is in many blue blacks?

I definitely do not see any green in the water test. It seems like a blue and a black only. So yea. It's Blue-Black.

nope... no teal/green in it. As you can see it dries much lighter. It went down REALLY black. I even wonder if I gotten the wrong ink (there is a black one, I did not get samples of that)

Hello :)

I like it.

Cyber6, from the scan you've posted (on my monitor) it looks nothing like Blue Merle. Sorry.

The closest ink I own to offer up as a looky likey would be Mont Blanc Midnight Blue, the new (ish) formula - which I've really grown to like so I expect MB will change it again soon :(

OK... from the look in MY screen.. Midnight Blue looks nothing like Blue Merle.. :P

I have both... so I will post swatches tonight. Imagine... if this becomes your Blue Merle look-a-like candidate.. you will be set for life. (Bottles are £7 + free shipping)

You're right, Midnight Blue does look nothing like Blue Merle. Nothing looks like Blue Merle.

The only thing I've seen that comes close is that Super5 Atlantic Blue but that's more expensive than gold . . .

Thank you for sharing. I picked up another one of these to share as samples. Not a motivational color for me. Thank you for doing these.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

  • 1 month later...

Just got this in the mail--it leaked a bit around the cap but otherwise arrived fine; the communication from Seitz-Kreuznach after I placed the order was excellent as well. This is a really nice, solid dark blue with strong water-resistance. The other Seitz-Kreuznach colors aren't moving me much, but I can see using this one on a regular basis. (A minor complaint: While the bottle looks cool, it's going to be difficult getting ink out once the level gets down to about halfway. I'll plan to decant it into another container.)

I ALWAYS decant into sample vials. I can't have all my bottles on my desk.. :P ..... PLUS... it keeps the original bottle "safe" from any kind of contamination.

I like the bottles, the foot print is small so they are easy to store. :D

I couldn't resist. I have a bottle headed my way from Germany now. Looks like a good candidate for everyday user.
