Ink Storage Container

I'm always looking for pen and ink storage tips, so I wanted to share a storage container that has been great for me so far. It's called the Translucent Hobby Case by Livinbox, and I got it at the Container Store for around $17 (no affiliation).

I was able to fit 25 bottles of ink in the bottom (Noodler's, Iroshizuku, Diamine, Pelikan Edelstein, and J. Herbin), and a whole mess of cartridges and ink samples in the trays. You could even try to stack ink bottles on the right side if you want, although they might fall out when you open it. I'm planning on getting another one to store the rest of my ink bottles and pen tools in the trays.

The one downside is that it is fairly translucent, so it probably will not protect the ink from light, but I guess you could line the inside if you really wanted to. The bottom bows a little due to the weight of the ink, but it seems sturdy enough to support it.

Ink bottles up to about 4 inches tall will fit under the trays. The right side fits 12 Noodler's bottles perfectly, and the middle divider is removable.

The container itself is about 14.5" x 8.75" x 7.5".

That is really, really nice! I am going to have invest in one myself. You have way more than I have right now to fit into it. I have several of the 15ml Iroshizuku and only one full size. I have lots of samples though.

I got a couple of Really Useful Boxes, in 4L and 8.1L (for the taller bottles), because I want extra protection for my bottles ^^

They are really sturdy boxes that can take a beating.

you can probably try adding a little tray? that way they wont collapse and make "home-made ink 2015"?

I do applaud your initiative.. but I fear that for me it looks like an accident waiting to happen. Glass bottles and liquids are heavy, I can't imagine the little handle supporting the weight.

If you don't use this system for transportation, then I guess it will do.

I keep my ink on those cute gift boxes (the ones made for storage.. thick cardboard boxes). They come in any size and price.. I get them after the Holidays for 60%-75% off... between $5-$8 dollars for large ones (fits approx 40 bottles) and they are excellent to stack and/or to keep on bookcases.

I tried that once, and then remembered I live in a humid place and so I had to change to a plastic container.

The container handles the weight surprisingly well, but yeah, I wouldn't use it for transportation.

Yep... wouldn't work in humid environments.

I had to move out of my box and into a double wide kitchen cabinet, 3 shelves high. But I saw that box at Container Store when I picked out my last plastic box.

I enjoy MB 146 pens, Sailor, Pilot and Platinum pens as well. I have a strong attraction to dark red and muted green ink, colors I dislike for everything but FP ink. I also enjoy practicing my handwriting and attempting to improve it. I love the feel of quality paper under a gold nib.

I hope you can move into a refrigerator box soon. (Although they are not plastic.)

Okay, too much MP for me...I'll go mix inks.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

That is genius. Sadly I am so clumsy that would be inviting disaster for me (I fell down the stairs and three weeks later up the same set do stairs ).

Eta I have an antique Japanese merchants chest, so I keep most of my ink in there. I like too think that makes all my Japanese inks happy. :)
