Okay,

Some material on Lamy's Facebook announces that an anniversary party will occur in October 2016. This probably means that we will have to wait for a special addition Lamy 2000 until Fall. I mean, why have a party if you are not unveiling something new.

Rule 25 is just for my blog. I am carrying a Lamy 2000 in my pocket right now, and a Pilot Custom 823 in my backpack with me. But there's also a Jinhao 159 in there that I was using earlier this morning. And not even 20 minutes ago, I ordered three new pens for myself costing $19 each: three different colors of Kaigelu 316.

I don't use only cheap pens, but there is a market for fountain pen enthusiasts (and FP-curious) who are working within a strict budget. And so I limit the scope of my writings there to something that a kid eating ramen in his dorm room can live with, or anyone else looking for the best values in fountain pen space.

Proof of life... My current carry pens today. This morning's journal entry was written with a Jinhao X450 which is inked up and on my desk at home. I normally have only about 5 pens inked up at a given time.

Nice try...proof of life needs a time marker - like today's newspaper or something.

For all I know you've killed the Lamy already and mailed its remains to different continents.

(not that I need more proof btw)

...but back on topic...

I'd like the anniversary 2k to have a 2-tone nib and maybe a larger viewing window

50th anniversary is gold so maybe a gold nib and solid 18k gold clip with a resin black body and an "L" roman numeral on the cap to signify 50 as well as the "L" in Lamy.

That sounds like an interesting blog. What's the link?

'a gold nib and solid 18k gold clip with a resin black body and an "L" roman numeral on the cap to signify 50'

That would be seriously snoozetastic.

What's the point of having a special LE pen if it looks identical to the original to everyone except a handful of nerds?

I want purple! And diamonds...and maybe a flashlight built in....

I think perhaps thomasrhee meant all black with yellow gold trims and nib, for the 50 year 'gold' association.

However, your idea sounds like corporate suicide and so I'd be intrigued to see it roll out. Especially from a German company with 'understated' design concepts.

ps. Thunderpants - I like your name. It makes me think.

Oh, he mentioned a gold clip,I missed that. I was thinking identical in every way except nib and a microscopic L somewhere.

(Can't help thinking Roman numerals are a bit daft nowadays...understood only by schoolboys and BBC executives.)

I wasn't entirely serious about the diamonds and the flashlight but if Lamy are still fishing for ideas... How about an emergency whistle?

Yeah, someone said put an L on the end and leave it at that but I wouldn't drop a couple ton for an additional L.

I thought your design might be tongue-in-cheek but it might be interesting if they flashed it up a bit.

A bit boring maybe, but understatedly classic in design. I was thinking of something that would be realistic to come out of Lamy and not just a personal wishlist in terms of odd color choices or such. Yes, it's design ideas that every pen maker does but it's in the details of the solid 18k gold clip, the roman "L", the gold nib as well as juxtaposition of "classic" elements in a "modern" bauhaus type of design that would be of interest to potential buyers.

I agree. I freaking love yellow gold. And on black it's ace. I'd be up for the grip section to be y-gold plated as well. Perhaps instead of resin, some kind of striated black metal....matte though not shiny.

Official news just heard from Lamy is a September launch for the 2000 50th Anniversary SE. There will be other goodies too! More details to follow...

Lamy has not released any, repeat ANY, information about what the new 2000 will look like yet. I'll get one for myself anyway as it's my YoB pen.

Great that means I can make a few purchases, recover and still then feel like I somehow deserve this come September.
