Considering how Lamy has standardised its FP eco-systems to the Z-series of nibs and converters. I wouldnt be surprise to see them updating the 2k going that way of the Z-series nibs. (Which makes it just a Studio with piston filling effectively)...

I am still betting on the Eyedropper filled Lamy 2k Limited Edition in Electric Pink with Gold Trim going for 500(or 499) euro :P

That's just depressing.

I actually *would* be surprised to see a nib update to the Lamy 2000. I doubt that will happen.

On their facebook page: "The next days will be dedicated to this timeless series and the origin of Lamy design. Stay with us!"

That was 6 days ago - and so far nothing has happened.

It's a highly original way of annoying potential customers.

Telepathic message to Lamy: Don't waste people's time. If you have a new product, tell us about it, but don't act like nobody has anything better to do than stare at your lame facebook page. It's a pen. Not the Messiah!

I dunno. That marketing model seems to be working for TWSBI.

If Lamy drops a Titanium 2000, no doubt I'm likely to pick it up. My first 2000 has been in my hands for mere hours and I'm completely and utterly in love. What's this "sweet spot" some lament? Mine just works. Oh, how it works.

But as sweet as Titanium would be, as I type this on my aluminum Macbook and glancing at a notification on my aluminum iPhone, I'm left to ponder further what material would be most iconic and representative of clean industrial design in 2016.

Thinking back to the 1965 vibe, I like the idea of an off-white Makrolon, maybe with black furniture.

Looking for:
Mid-century and modernist Pelikans & MBs

Aluminum would be pretty sweet...

Aluminum would be pretty sweet...

Aluminum is too soft, and kind of old hat now

A triple ring between barrel and section with German flag colours?

I'd buy it!

For it's 100th year version, I don't think going with any kind of all metal L2K would be a good idea. It would be too heavy and lack the ink window and not to mention drive up the price quite a bit. I don't know for sure, but it did not sound like the stainless steel version was a big hit.

Lamy would be better off to go with the proven and loved Makrolon material but offer it in a really attractive color of some sort and not charge a premium for it. Maybe even keep it at the same price as the regular black ones. I am sure they would sell quite a few.

How about an Ivory body with rose gold section and clip, or Charcoal with black section and clip.

But will people even use ballpoints 50 years from now, let alone fountain pens.

Seriously though, Lamy will probably not do anything crazy. I bet they will add back the L at the end and maybe put silver ring somewhere or maybe make the ink window a tad bit bigger.

L for Lamy, L for 50. Sounds suitably minimal.

Right..it's the 50th anniversary we are talking about. Maybe if they are still making this pen in 50 years they can celebrate by doing an L2K that writes by itself. We'll all be shuttling around in self driving vehicles by then.
