Is This A Mabie Todd?

Hi.

I got this pen for about $8 of an auction at Tradera (swedish eBay)

I have tried to find som information about the pen without any luck.

The thing i have found out is that the swan symbol should be the logo for Mabie Todd. Is that correct?

The modell is a Standard Pen and is a piston filler with a nr. 4 Ero 14k F nib with some flex.

Does anyone know something about this pen modell?

Best regards Pether Olsson

Well the nib writes nicely.

That pen was not manufactured by Mabie, Todd & Co Ltd.

All Mabie Todd fountain pens stated Mabie Todd & Co (New York) or Mabie Todd & Co Ltd Made in England. All Mabie Todd fountain pens were fitted with gold nibs which were either stamped Mabie Todd and/or Swan..

Mabie Todd never manufactured a piston-filling pen; manufacture of fountain pens by the company ended in the 1950s.

Finally I am not pleased that some, presumably Chinese, company, has decided to steal the famous and elegant Swan emblem.

The nib is really smooth and have a nice ink flow.

That was pretty sad to hear, but the nib it self is worth the little amount i payed.

I have no idea how old the pen is or where it came from.

But my research about the emblem was right then, and it is some bad news that someone have stole it for a pen.

You were indeed lucky to find such a nice gold nib for $8 in a pen that is probably totally reliable!

I am sure you will enjoy your bargain!

Here's a 1940s Swan Imprint:
