Question On Noodler's Polar Black Edition 2006

Hi!

I just got from an ebay seller a bottle of Noodler's Polar Black. The label also carries "Edition 2006".

What does it mean? Was it produced in 2006 or is it just the formulation that was invented back there? If it was bottled 9 years ago, shall I hope that the ink still retain its properties (i.e. bulletproof, anti-icing, etc.)?

Thanks for any information!

It is my understanding that Noodler's changed the formulation of Polar inks a while back. Originally, they supposedly had superb freeze resistance, but bad "other" qualities. According to their website, 2006 was the changeover date.

Polar Blue will actually freeze. At -18F and a windchill of -24F, the bottle turned to a mostly solid block of crystalline material. I think I could get three drops of liquid out of it.

Bottom line - if the bottle will freeze if left outside, whatever is inside of your pen will also freeze. Don't rely on it to save a pen from the harshness of winter.

At least it went back into solution / suspension after freezing ... (MB perm blue I'm looking at you).
