What Is This Pen - Any Ideas?

I hope somebody on here will be able to help me. My mother left me this pen many years ago and it has just sat wrapped up in a box since then.

I am now keen to find out a little bit more about it... can anyone shine any light on this for me?

All I know is that I can't find any pictures of another one anywhere online.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like a Waterman's Safety pen not sure on the number though others will have to comment for specifics. Though there might be a number engraved on the base of the barrel. 0452 or something similar.

The nib appears to have Esterbrook stamped on it and the case looks much like an Esterbrook body as well. I am not too familar with that make but there are many here who are. And love the pens. Can't quite read the stamping, a blow-up picture is in order.

Why not repost this on the Esterbrook forum? May get a faster and fuller response that way.

Cleaned up and repaired -- looks as if you have a nice pen there.

Best of luck,

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?

Thank you for your comments.

With my very limited knowledge I believe it is a Waterman as the nib reads "Waterman, Ideal, England" and it has 42 1/2 marked on the bottom which seems to make sense from the numbering table I have just taken a look at.

Any ideas why I can't find another examples online? Have I done a Delboy and Rodney and been keeping my unknown fortune in the garage all this time?!! :)

Keen to hear from anyone else who might know anymore about this pen.

Waterman's didn't start manufacturing in England until after the war, so it is a replacement nib. Seems reasonable as the pen would have given 20 - 30 years service by then.

Have you checked the hall marks to see where and when the overlay was made?
