I am amazed by the n number of inexpensive pens without the compromise on quality front from major of the Chinese pen manufacturers especially Hero and Jinhao.... There are other expensive Chinese pen also there with the likes of duke, kaigelu....

Recently i got hold of lot of Jinhao pens which I will be reviewing in future days to come one by one.

Today I am reviewing "Jinhao 886" what looks like an big bullet...

The pen looks very cute and beautiful. I have recently developed craze for small pens. Acquiring Kaweco Lilliput, Kaweco Ice Sport and Pilot Petit 1 recently. And yes i believe this pen stands out there as among the best. Also I am trying to get one small pen customized but that for the later.

The pen barrel and cap are metal which are painted in various finishes. The cap itself is small and gets easily posted at back. The cap easily comes out in 2 turns. AND yes one more thing just like Jinhao 159, this pen has threaded section and cap easily snugs in to the pen after 2 turns.

What the... are these a knock off of something, or have Jinhao actually gone ahead and shocked me with something distinctive and stylish!? Thanks, great post!

I am believe they are actually not knock offs .....

But yeah they are amazing and beautifully built ....

For the Yanks that are reading this:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-JINHAO-886-FOUNTAIN-PEN-RED-OFFICE-WRITING-METAL-WITHOUT-ORIGINAL-BOX/32263517597.html

No affiliation; I have never used this vendor. But if the pen is as awesome as Vaibhav has indicated, and for $6.00 with free shipping . . .

Edit: It would appear that AliExpress is the on-line vendor division of the increasingly well-known Alibaba Group, which is a major purveyor of Chinese goods. I did some poking around, and I noticed that AliExpress also carries Jinbao (with a B) musical instruments (I play a Jinbao euphonium).

I recently bought 4 of these from Ebay seller bestshopping10000 (no affiliation etc.). A little over £15 (approx 22.50 USD) delivered and they arrived today within 10 days from China to the UK.

I have a lovely almost fluorescent lime green and 3 (black/red/blue) with spider's web motif on the cap. The two i have tried so far have very smooth medium nibs with no initial cleaning or smoothing required. Great balance and perfect length when posted (which i don't normally do, but it works well with this smaller pen. Very impressed.

I also just got a red one from an eBay vendor in China. $6 shipped, it arrived in less than two weeks. Rinsed it, filled it with Oxblood and it wrote smoothly enough immediately with no hard starts or ships. It developed a hard start today, which may be a matter of not screwing the cap on tight, the cap being leaky or partly the oxblood ink. At any rate, a very good writer, even if it was 5 to 6 times the price.

M using with the cheap Indian camlin inks which are for 15 Indian rupees i.e.. Usd 0.25.. It has performed flawlessly

I really want this pen to work out for me. I changed inks, from oxblood to Omas Red after rinsing. When the ink flows it writes well with a nice smooth medium line, but it can't keep the flow up and stops. Not just skips.

Any and all ideas appreciated.

The bright green body version of this pen hurts your eyes when you see it for the 1st time.

They also have a version with a spider motif on the cap, those are in red and blue with a metalic sheen to them.

I recently got mine due to you enablers. :) I have to say that for the price, these little pens are great value. In my order, each pen came in individual felt pen sleeves and converters included. My red one does have some issues with the nib, but I'm willing to fiddle with the nib to get it to write the way I want. Not bad for 4 pens at a little over $5/pen with free shipping.

Still having a problem with skipping/stopping. Do the nib and feed screw out or is it friction fit. What is the best way to remove it?

Thanks.
