Based on your review, I ordered one from a seller in China and I just inked it up (it took 5 weeks to get here). About the same size as the Pilot Prera, a little heavier (which I don't mind), converter included (the same model as the ones that come with the Jinhao 599 Safary clones), medium nib. I didn't even bother cleaning the pen before inking it and it's very nice. I've got Diamine Eclipse in it and it is very smooth. And it's got a screw-on cap, not the dreaded white inner caps you find on a lot of Chinese pens with snap caps. I'm glad I got one.

I have just received one of these, in red, with several other pens that I ordered from China. It is a delight! It is, first of all, extremely cute. Second, while it is short, it is not slender, and consequently is (for me anyway) comfortable to hold. Third, it is nicely balanced with the cap posted--more comfortable to me than most pens of such a light weight (22 grams). And fourth, the nib is very smooth without, so far, showing any signs of skipping. My only point of dissatisfaction with it is that a molding seam in the plastic of the grip section makes it a bit difficult to screw into and out of the barrel. But I am going to order a few more in different colors--perhaps they won't have the same problem!

 

I have owned several dozen models of Chinese-made pens. This one has leapt into the position of my second favorite (after the no-longer-manufactured Huashilai 3000).

My three pens do not have that molding seam problem.

But i agree the quality control is not that much... sometimes there are one or two three odd pieces that have some minute problems...

I have ordered a few for the kids and shipped on 27th May and arrived in the post office at the 4th June! Amazing speed. Should have checked my mail to track the date of arrival. Have to wait till next week to pick them up

 

May I ask if the nib can be removed and swabbed, like the Jinhao 159? I have some spare Jowo number 6 nibs sitting around.

Thanks for the review! I ordered one based on your review and got it yesterday. It felt a bit scratchy and when I looked at the tines, I could see that they needed a bit of adjustment. Once I aligned the tines, it was a very nice writer and very comfortable to hold, either posted or not posted. I have 3 Jinhao X450s and 3 X750s and none of these are better writers than the 886 in my opinion.

Thank you liking the review.... the only problem with fantastic Jinhao is that sometimes there pen turn out to be not what we expected...
