Twsbi 580Usa Like A Duracell

Wow!

TWSBI holds ink like a Duracell battery lasts!

I am only now getting low on ink Iroshizuku Kon-Peki. Filled this pen last Thursday. I still have several more pages to go before needing to flush & fill with another color. Do you use this as your workhorse writing instrument? Or do you not fill this pen to capacity? Or is this pen the one you routinely load ink into and let it flow? Inquiring new TWSBI 580 owner's mind wants to know.

A full tank of the 580 lasts me 25 A4 pages of my narrow writing.

Depending on my need to write and assuming that I use this pen exclusively, this means 1 to 7 days writing.

As far as capacity is considered, the Stipula Etruria Rainbow is unbeatable, you can see the ink level drop in the inkwell while filling, :yikes: and one full tank runs about more than 30 pages. Guess I can draw a line coast to coast with that pen. :D

I am on page 14 of two journals. Since it holds so much, I may make this pen the one I keep inked which is one of most favorite and constant for the time it is in the pen exclusively. I have become so interested in sample inks and they don't need a pen to hold any more than 2ml of ink. I can become bored of long usage of one ink in one pen. This is great though, I love being able to see the ink held in the pen. 30 pages?

Indeed, coast to coast. I am not even going to investigate the Stipula Eturia Rainbow, my attention span won't last that long. :lticaptd:

I do not change inks that much. Most of my pens are "married" to one ink, each of them is filled with the best ink for the pen characteristics.

I write on A4 squared paper (5mm squares) writing on each square, so 30 pages is really a lot.

It's your pen. Fill as much, or as little, as pleases you.

As an adult, you don't have to eat ALL of your vegetables. You can eat dessert first.

What's that ? She (who must be obeyed) says, "No !" to the vegetables. "Yes !"

to the fountain pen.

Thank you for the suggestion. May not have made myself clear, I have had this pen for less than a week. I have only begun to enjoy it after filling it with my virgin load of ink. The ink load is what some rave about and as someone who is still on my first load, I am fascinated and excited. Not only am I an adult, very much grown, totally independent, rebel from way back and above all, thank you for your input. Be well.

btw, I absolutely abhor vegetables and do not eat them at all. The answer would be emphatically no to vegetables all together. Routinely, eat my dessert first, at my age, it is my pleasure, my right, and never know if or when it will be my last. Be Well :lticaptd:

I've been giving my new TWSBI a bunch of ink samples from Goulet, so I never get a full load in them, because the nib can't be sufficiently immersed in the sample vials. I've debated taking off the nib and loading them with a pipette, but my attention span is too short. So far, a half-sample-vial load lasts me one or two classes worth of homework grading (I comment copiously), and then I go and get a new color.

I think things will not change until the shine wears off, and I get brave about taking it out of the house and using it as a daily carry. For now, it stays in its box in my desk drawer, so I've never had a need to really fill it all the way.

I agree, it is your pen, use it as you like. I know collectors that have hundreds of valuable pens religiously stored in boxes, all of them uninked and others who have just one cheap pen and smash it around daily. As we say here in Italy: "Mint is not the only flavour available".

Everybody has his own relationship with fountain pens, inks and accessories.

The thing that I like about piston fillers (and converters) is that you can load up as much ink as you want to.

  • Just trying a new ink that you are not sure about, load up 1/4 fill.
  • Refilling an ink you like, FULL fill.

My TWSBI 530 is in my green ink rotation, and has recently rotated out after 1-1/2 loads.

BTW, I am looking to get a 580, soon.

For Maximum ridiculous ink volume (i'm sure there are others that hold more) The TWSBI Vac 700 in conjunction withe a Vac 20 inkwell. You can easily get a full barrel load. Write on, almost forever.

Big fun too.

I have inks I love just because they flow so nicely. I filled my 580 with J. Herbin Violette Pensee. It lasted forever, it seemed, but such a nice flowing ink, and easy to clean up. But today I got my 1.1 stub!!! I need to try something different so I'm dipping for now! Diamine Ancient Copper is gorgeous. I also got the dark green ink sample pack from Goulet. I need to dip!

I just love this pen. I was happy with the fine point and I'm thrilled with the stub. I'm halfway wishing I'd bought it with a second 580. But it's really easy to change the nibs and I like trying different pens, too. Still, I think this could be my all-time favorite.

I have found myself enjoying how you are using your TWSBI. However, and I have just caught it before it has becomes an outrageous problem. I am ending up with sample ink tubes and they contain not enough ink to have a second fill of the pen. Yet, I don't want to throw ink away or render them to die or be forgotten in a dry death. I do have one Ahab Flex purchased recently and one on the way. I may designate one or two of these as remaining sample ink users. There is a way one can fill them with a syringe. It is going to be messy, but I have many other sample ink tubes and this can't get any farther with becoming an issue. I also have a couple of Lamys I can re ink and break out for this expressed purpose. Since you also have this issue with only one fill and what are you doing with the rest of the ink which won't reach the filler hole?

I loved the Ancient Copper. I thought it was something which was a unique color in the family of red.
