Is This A Montblanc?

Pictures following.....have done my best to show as much detail as I can. I'm wondering if this is a genuine Montblanc: it was listen simply as "fountain pen, nice looking, good condition"

The words Montblanc Meisterstuck are etched into the silver coloured ring at the base of the cap; it has the six pointed star on top. It's fitted with a converter( have not flushed it yet, so it's exactly as I got it)

Leather case, also with six pointed star on the catch, and

MONT

BLANC

Hamburg

At the bottom of the back.

( meant to say....what I wondered was about the nib: just plain, standard iridium....I wouldn't think a Montblanc would have that?)

Nope - it's a fake I'm afraid. Not sure about the case, but I would assume they were probably bought at the same time.

The pen has "Iridium Point Germany" on the nib. Definitely a fake.

It's a counterfeit pen so the case is most likely fake too.

Looks like a Jinhao. I don't believe MB ever made a pen with that marbled finish.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Just wondering, how much did you pay?

£18......

So.....was that a dreadful price, not too bad, or ok?

It's -I think - going to be a good enough wee workaday pen, nice and heavy( though Im mad at myself for the "too good to be true".....that said, this might sound crazy, but if it *had* been a genuine one I would have felt mean for taking advantage of the seller not knowing that....I know, nuts, right? )

Any thoughts on the above very welcome.

There are a LOT of fake MBs on Ebay. I've seen some bid up over $100 USD so, no, you did not come out too bad.

Just don't try to resell it. Buying counterfeit items is not illegal, selling them is.

Thank you.....I was actually feeling a bit 'off' about having bought a counterfeit; uncomfortable. And Im glad that I wasn't stung too badly ;)

I would never dream of reselling it....eek, yikes, no way, not nohow never! I wouldn't want to gift it to anyone, either, as it doesn't set a good example....

So....I'll put the 'off' feeling in my mental trash can, try to learn a lesson from it, and use it. Maybe keep it for using any inks which Im trying out.....so, if it does get bunged up, it's not as though I was risking a good pen.

Ah, suffer in' succotash, as Sylvester(I think) used to say.....

Definitely a fake. Mb never made any pens with Iridium Point nibs, and they never made any with stuck on bands that have black plastic between them either.

I don't like the look of the pen pouch either.

If you bought it on ebay you can get a full refund as it's a fake and it's illegal for sellers to sell fakes. You don't even have to return it. If you open a case with ebay they will refund your payment. It's a good idea to do this so the seller and ebay know that there are fakes being sold

thats a good price, and you should see how it writes, and it could be better than expected... maybe

A fountain pen a day keeps the ballpoints away!

Her. :P

Anyway, if the pen writes, £18 is a fair price for a working fountain pen so long as you like it.
