100N Inner Cap

Hi folks,

I have just purchased a 100N. There appears to be no inner cap. Could somebody be good enough to confirm that it should have one, and what they look like?

Many thanks,

Ralf

Hi Ralf, the 100N cap has no separate inner cap. When the pen is closed, the section front rests against the inner part of the blind cap. So one could argue that the blind cap serves as an 'inner' cap.

See here for a nice picture showing how the blind cap closes against the section (at the bottom of the page):

Hope this helps.

Thank you joris for the link.

Although this is a cutaway model of 100 from mid-1933, I hope my photos further helps to understand how the cap works without an inner cap.

The photos show the edge of the blind cap.

the edge of the cap (green arrow) is diagonally pressed against the edge of the grip section (pink arrow) to create an air tight seal.

You can also see 2 vents (arrow heads) only ventilating the grip section .

That's perfect, thanks folks. I was confused by a number of postings that I found discussing trimming the inner cap to adjust cap fit after binder replacement/shrinkage.
