Bent Nib On A Uk Parker Duofold

Hi all,

I need to remove the nib from my UK Parker Duofold to straighten out the bent area. Are these nib and feeds screw in or press in? Can the nib be removed w/o taking the aerometric filler off?

They are friction fit. Occasionally you will find one that can be eased out (be careful not to damage the fins on the feed).

If you remove the filler cover, and the ink sac, you can access the breather tube and remove that before knocking out the feed. I would suggest a couple of cycles through the Cleaner before dismanting.

I don't have a sonic cleaner. What's the plan "B" for that?

I've tried gently removing the nib and feed. No go.

I want to repair it because it's a stub nib with a nosebleed ink flow, so it's a lot of fun to draw with.

Nib and feed are a friction fit, so

Either...

A good soak, section deep, overnight followed by a gentle walking out of the nib with both thumbs (one either side of the nib), gently too and frow. This followed by the easing out (a horizontal tug) of the feed and breather (some models such as the Slimfold also have a thin rod of plastic to aid capillary action which are v fragile)

Or

Application of hairdryer heat to the base of the filler and the easing off of that part followed by the excellent advice provided in the post above
