Noooooooo, GClef! Please don't keep items like this a secret (unless of course you want them for yourself. :P )

You had no idea this auction would turn out to be such a mess, and I very much doubt that someone here saw your thread and thought, "Hey, just the thing for me to spend this spare $1700 I have in my pocket." This could have been a wonderful pen for someone, if the seller hadn't apparently gotten greedy and orchestrated this fiasco!

Unless all accounts are held by the same guy (or gal).

Well, that's just wrong, but quite possible.

A look at s***s' bidding history does not show any activity prior to the original listing. So, probably not even a fountain pen dealer/seller on eBay.

Bidder h***s, who maxed at $100.00 was probably the last legit bidder; at least their bidding history shows activity with collectible pens.

this person on FPN (no relation to me I just saw it on classifieds) has a much better pen that is supposedly mint for less than a third of the price https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/classifieds/item/32427-waterman-42-ripple-music-nib/

so I wouldn't worry about ebay...

If anybody wants to buy a FPR triveni, a waterman's crusader with a modified barrel, or faber castell pitt brush pens I have one just for you!

These Romans are crazy!

Or maybe there is a person who want to prevent the selling of this pen and creates always new accounts for bidding.

I really don`t understand this whole affair …. :wallbash:

First the pen gets "sold" for 1525 $ - then same pen pops up for 1700 $ (auction ended cause seller made a mistake) - same pen pops up for third time with low starting bid & is now at around 3000 $ (apparently there was one jump from 105 $ to 1500 $)

The sellers have been very unfortunate with both sales. The first sale was hijacked by a 0 feedbacker and the second sale was too high to start with so attracted a geek or two. The only way now is a reasonably priced BIN sale, with no offers.

They/he/she should just put it on FPN at a reasonable price for pete's sake!

Hello everyone I am the original owner to this pen. I can't believe that people think that what is going is malicious in anyway. Just to let everyone know here is what has happened I listed the pen got a message from an eBayer asking for better photo's of the nib so I posted better photo's of the nib. By the way I had no idea what the pen was I "collect" multiple different things and after 4,5,6 years I get something new and cycle out the old stuff I sell at antique shows and then the stuff that doesn't sell at the shows I sell on eBay this pen I have been trying to sell at my shows for about 3 years now in total I have had the pen for close to 10yrs in fact I had the pen priced at $65 and at my last show I priced it all the way down to $35 I also at this same time listed 2 different kinds of fountain pens. So I then get a message at night time from the original person asking about photo's saying stay tuned for what I have done I thought ok. Next morning I get up and the pen is all the way up to $1525 and on this auction the starting bid was $15 so I read my messages the person had shared with that they made a post for this pen and I was like wow that is amazing I can't believe this happening way to cool I need to do something to repay you for what you have done for me. Then he/she says well don't get to excited the high bidder has 0 FB and then I though not good at all. So auction ends with no more bids. Then I contacted the high bidder get no response from them then I open up a case for item not paid as I don't want to get stuck with eBay fees for no reason in fact at this time the case is still opened against them reason being I decided to look Sterling Archer up and to my surprise I find out that this is the name of a cartoon character. So the person I share an office with I asked to list the pen for a commission because my account limits I couldn't list the pen till next month. So she ask what price I sell well it sold for $1500 so lets do $1700 Buy it Now or Best Offer. Keep in mind 2 things I could not find another pen/nib combo like this to reference the price and I had asked a couple of people what they thought it was worth and no one could give me a price. So the only reference that I had to price the pen was the last bid and in fact the last 2 bids where $1500 and $1525. So I figured that it was somewhere in the ballpark and now people are choosing to get on and bid the pen and have turned this whole thing into a big joke. Now here is the big kicker when no offers came in I said to go ahead and auction off the pen and start it out at 99 cents and just let it go. So I find all these comments funny that I am ghosting scamming to make look like its worth more money and so on. How about this for some reason somebody has decided to be a jerk bid something that they no intention on paying for and ruining an honest auction for all those who actually would like the pen and just want to sell the dam thing and be done with it. So here is what most likely will happen I am going to hit the pen with a hammer completely smashing the (bleep) out of it and then throwing it away but I will scrap the nib for its gold value because I just don't care and it is not worth all the time and energy that has gone into this. Or maybe I will just keep the pen and have pen that I will never use but I will have a story to tell when someone sees it. So my point is this I am the one is being scammed not the other way around.

Hate to tell you this the seller is not greedy because that is me I have posted what has happened. You can believe what you want but I will say this if you had any idea how much time this has cost me replying to messages contacting eBay to open up unpaid item cases and so on you would realize that even if the pen sold for $1700 I would be making around $10 hr so ha!!!!

Don't worry cerehad, its just a little envy/jealousy making people angsty plus bad circumstances to worsen the situation! I speculated that it could have been malicious (and I apologize, I shouldn't have jumped the gun), but that was purely speculation and had no weight to it to say you are a bad person or a good person and now I know that you meant no harm. This certainly is a bad situation; there is a lot of money at stake and valuing a pen with a value that is wildly different to pretty much every person you ask is hard. This really has put a lot of pressure on you, a pen you thought was 30 dollars is now anywhere from 100-3000 dollars depending on the person(or scammer) and now people with only bad intentions have entered the ring. I really suggest you don't bother with ebay and just put It here with a post asking for its value and then a post selling it.that way you get honest answers and no ebay scammers and unsavory individuals.

All I can say is that cerehad is a really (un)lucky person to get this pen at this point!

Please note that I said "apparently" and that my post was posted several days before you posted today. We were all speculating about what had happened. We will probably never know why the bidders decided to play games with your auction and I am sorry it has been such a painful and frustrating experience for you.

I reckon you now know that the pen and nib is NOT worth $1500+, but that it is still a very nice nib and pen and there are many that would be more than willing to pay a reasonable price for it. You will of course do as you please, but I certainly hope you don't smash the pen and have the nib melted down. It would be a shame to destroy such history and I would hope that this would be totally against your nature and proclivities as someone that is part of the antique show circuit.

There is a lot of information about fountain pens and nibs and such both here and elsewhere on the Internet should you need information about a fountain pen in the future.
