I'm confused. So the inks are only available through the LA Pen Show? Or they will be available through becoming an FPN Supporter (via donation)? Please give us some straightforward information for those of us interested.

The latter.

They're taking the inks to the LA Pen Show to market and for first looks.

Afterwards, they'll be available to donors here on FPN.

Sounds great. I'm happy to donate to get these inks! Just curious though, what's a Charlie pen? I'm out of the loop!

So, am I reading this right? Each bottle is a $30 donation, with a max of 2 bottles per year?

Where did you get that?..

My understanding, is that the ink will be available to donors and supporters... at a discounted rate.

That. :)

And it will be available at normal rates to members who are not donors or supporters. Just that we are still setting up everything to make provision of inks possible other than the personal (i.e, LA Pen Show) approach, provided it is all doable.

We're working on it :).

Is it safe to assume that the "normal rate" is going to be higher than Noodler's usual $12.50 for 3 oz? I don't know what the last run cost, and the only experience I have with LE inks is with FPH (who sell at the normal MSRP for Noodler's).

I read on the donors and supporters list that it's one free bottle for a $30 Rhodium donation, and 2 free bottles for a $60 Platinum donation. I assume you get to choose which bottle(s) you want.

I would like to know how much it will cost to buy and whether it will be sold at a reduced price for any donors or supporters, not just Rhodium, Platinum etc. Or whether it will be one price for the ink whether you're a donor or supporter or not

That is very safe to assume indeed.

What was meant with the "donation" remark related to the inks is that they will not sell at "normal" MSRP for the simple reason that it is not cost effective at all for us. We're too small, there are always hiccups, requiring resending or refunding, and we're just not a commercial setup, with all the extra costs that involves. On the last batches two years ago we made about $0.20 or so for every hour spent on shipping, handling, emailing, and admin. I think most moderators and admins, considering the amount of work, would rather give a donation themselves (well, they do already :)) to cover that. This was partly due to the fact that we were trying to deal with several currencies simultaneously, and that we didn't/couldn't have automated store software to deal with it all, in combination with very strict bookkeeping regulations.

However, we don't want to keep our members from getting these wonderful and unique inks, so after a lot of discussion and soul searching, we decided we would make them available again, provided we could have them manufactured once again, be it at a price that would help FPN with the continuation of its existence, and at a rate which would make it more beneficial to FPN and more reasonable for our volunteers to put effort into.

HTH, warm regards, Wim

Of course next we got carried away a bit, with things happening very fast in other areas, now resulting in an additional ink, and another in the making ;).

No, actually. It mentions a discount.

I'll have a look at the wording, thank you for mentioning this. The comparison at the bottom of the post clearly mentions a discount, on an annual basis.

Warm regards, Wim

It says FPN ink discount. None; None; 1 annually; 2 annually;

I can't see any mention of any discount on a purchase price

That is true, it only says discount, but not how much. We aren't selling any yet, which is why. We will have a special offer for the LA Pen Show, however :).

I just fixed the wording in the topic starter post, I do hope it is more clear now. Working on 3 announcements at the same time clearly is not always a good thing.

That is such great news for everyone who visits the LA Pen Show, or knows of someone who is going.

Sadly, for us poor so and so's in the UK a plane ticket might be a tad expensive for a bottle of ink :(
