I just sign up to the Fountain Pen Network, I'm a big fan of cursive & Calligraphy writing. I purchase a Franklin Christoph fountain pen. It writes smooth but the weight of the pen is heavy it takes a little getting use to. I've got back to practicing my cursive after so many years of not doing so. Here is a quick sample of my writing I wrote this paragraph pretty quick. I am a left handed, tell me what you think of my writing, & tell me what i need to work on. Thanks

By the way I use a combination of forearm & whole arm movement.post-120266-0-05756100-1422856613_thumb.jpgpost-120266-0-19579800-1422857765_thumb.jpgpost-120266-0-87714900-1422857785_thumb.jpg

OK, Edward, welcome to FPN!

Your handwriting is clear and looks good. Legible, derived from good templates. What do you want to do next? Learn more about calligraphy? Change the style of your hand? Develop a better hand at a faster speed? Let us know how we may be able to help you.

Enjoy,

Yours,
Randal

From a person's actions, we may infer attitudes, beliefs, --- and values. We do not know these characteristics outright. The human dichotomies of trust and distrust, honor and duplicity, love and hate --- all depend on internal states we cannot directly experience. Isn't this what adds zest to our life?

Very nice! What model and nib is your Franklin Christoph?

Thanks for the comment you posted. I'm using a 29 Special Edition Radiant Red fountain pen, with a fine point nib. This model pen is pretty heavy it's taking me a while to get use too. I still have a little trouble with making good straight lines. With this pen you have to write with speed so the lines look good. http://www.franklin-christoph.com/model-29-bellus.html

Enjoy,

Thanks for the positive feed back, it took lots of practice to get where I'm at. For being a lefty it's harder to write cursive. I want to learn Spencerian Script & Ornamental Script. I love how it's written & looks. Also I want to develop a better hand & and speed. When I got back to writing cursive my writing was very slow, but I changed my pen grip a few times till I found one that is comfortable. My speed is getting better with legibility. If you have any tips on writing or anything else that will help that'll be great. I'm also a member of IAMPETH.

Work on? Not a thing; it's perfect unless you aspire to perfectly formed calligraphy.

"how do I know what I think until I write it down?"

Thank you so much for the comment, but their is always room for improvement. I've been practicing my cursive for about 7 months, after not doing it for years.

I write Copperplate and Italic mostly, so don't feel qualified to give any advice about Spencerian. Maybe Mickey will see this and chime in. Him or Ken Fraser or one of the other calligraphers and penmen that do that hand.

Best of luck, have fun,

Yours,
Randal
