It is cloth after all.

I am imagining the brush would be too harsh on the bookcloth.

IIRC, I have seen a soft brush, with real bristle used for a similar purpose.

 

Wallpaper hangers use them similarly.

Have you ever thought of using a scrubbing brush with stiff bristles to press material onto stencil? It may well save a lot of time trying to press material into each little corner. I used this technique on something over 20 years ago, though not sure it will work with those materials.

It is cloth after all.

I am imagining the brush would be too harsh on the bookcloth.

 

You wouldn't brush the cloth, just press the brush's bristles down to push the material into the grooves. You could use a bath brush, shoe brush (that is clean), whichever.

Rear.

The window fret design is intentionally placed on the rear cover for 2 reasons:

- to sort of 'hide' the design, keeping it subtle,and

- so that the band closure doesn't interfere with the design when its deployed

The khaki bookcloth was hard to match in terms of its hue.

So to keep things neat and simple , I decided on as few colours as possible, using only black

That is a Pelikan 100N , which is smallish in size and makes the journal appear bigger than it actually is.
