I think the pen is well balanced. This is a large pen, and I have not used it posted (in fact, I have not even tried whether it posts!).

Out of curiosity, does anyone have any knowledge on how CONID is coming along with the feed update? I remember about two months ago, fountainbel mentioned a two-week window runway, which I imagine they're still working on.

Just hoping someone might have an update!

Hi OutOmind,

Sorry for the delay, but fine-tuning the feed design is not as easy as we expected.

We clearly underestimated this hurdle …

Conid is now very close to the final design, actually performing intensive evaluation tests.

Hope to come back with good news shortly !

Francis

Better to get it right than have to fix it later. Any chance we can see some video of the testing?

I second this, I would love to see some new pictures of the pen or something.

Please, now that we have had an update from Francis, lets not distract Conid any further. I would rather they were left alone to concentrate fully on the feed, getting that priority absolutely right, so that they can then get the CAISO out to us. The story on the testing can always come afterwards.

It has been quite a while since the pens release. I agree with waiting for it to be done perfect, but this wait has been a little ridiculous.

Agreed. Or just some more frequent posts. Maybe once or twice a week?

These updates are few and far between. A quick post here and there (once or twice a week) would not remove any focus from the job, and be better for us all who are waiting.

Terrific to hear! Totally worth the wait and thanks for getting back so promptly.

I just keep checking this thread for any updates. I know better than to bother them with e-mails because they are very busy.

Appreciate the update and I know this will be well worth the wait.

Besides, I have my Minimiliatica to keep my fingers busy for now.

Test 1. Francis puts pen in pocket, takes a deep breath, and then walks into a burning building. He later comes out charred, but smiling with pen intact. Good-to-go!

Test 2. Francis puts pen in pocket, straps on his helmet, hops on a bicycle, and peddles right off a cliff ...

Good-to-go!

Test 3. Francis in an F-14 Tomcat gives the thumbs up, salutes, hits the afterburners, and is catapulted from the deck of a Nimitz class carrier. Pen was strapped to the firewall on the flight deck. Good-to-go!

Test 4. Francis in white shirt, white trousers, and a red scarf running like a madman around the corner. Bulls come running behind a few seconds later. Close up reveals pen strapped to the left horn of the lead bull. Good-to-go!

Test 5. Pen floats by in the dark void. Beep! Soon Francis floats by in spacsuit during EVA (extra-vehicular-activity). Good-to-go!

Test 6. Francis in scuba gear pulls the pen out underwater and writes "Good-to-go!" Shark swims by - chomp! Pen's gone!

Test 7. Francis in what looks like some Japanese sort of costume with a headband ... Furiously chopping and slicing at something ... As we close in we see ... He's a sushi chef! Today's feature: shark. He's making the sushi with - wait! Can it be? Yes! It's the pen! Good-to-go!

Yes, indeed, Sports Fans. The Caiso Bulkfiller skunkworks at Conid have some serious testing going on. Maybe some of y'all have spied a test scenario or two to share? Remember not to reveal any trade secrets.

Exactly! These are the videos I hope to see

Francis sits in a pod held over a set of spinning arms, hoping not to travel across the universe to see his father. He clutches the pen in his grip. All the folks at Mission Control can hear is him quietly mumbling "Good to go... good to go..." over the audio system.

I had heard rumors that these pens are from another dimension ... Good to go!

I for one have thoroughly enjoyed the first three bulkfillers, all with Ti Bock medium nibs. They are wonderful!

I actually stopped purchasing Conid after receiving the most expensive version, a Kingsize and had requested a "wet fine," to which I received one of the scratchiest nibs I have ever had. It really frustrates me as I don't want to go through the chance and wait from a nibmeister and I definitely do not wish to send it all the way back to Belgium. Every time I look at it I shake my head and then just pick up a Sailor if I want a smooth fine nib.

That sounds like a one-off mistake. I'm sure if you sent it back (shipping to Belgium doesn't take THAT long), they'd work to get you back to where you want to be. My understanding is that it's a standup group of people who stand by their work.

Besides. At this point, you have a $1000 pen sitting indefinitely unused, which is significantly longer than the turnaround for shipping and a re-grind from CONID. Especially if you enjoyed your original pens.

I don't believe so as their QC is pretty tight; I just do not know if it is even possible to make a fine Ti Bock be a smooth, wet writer. I have a very succinct perspective on this. If after three previous orders they could not take the time to get the more expensive pen order correct and knowing my pretty basic preferences (smooth, wet writer), it probably won't happen. I am thinking it should be easier on me to not have to have the Kingsize take a month-long economy shipping tour back to Belgium, but it will be interesting what their reply will be.

It could just be set wrong. A nibmaster could sort it out.

That said, if you contact Conid direct, I'm sure they'd just arrange to send you out a new nib. They are friction-fit and can be replaced in the housing quicker than I can touch-type this reply.

Too many pens; too little writing.

Thank you so much! I was wondering about this and finally this is a really great solution. Yes, I've already contacted them, but it generally takes about two days to reply to emails. If I do not hear back, I'll most likely attempt to get a pre-tuned nib from nibs.com, but I have no idea of which size. Apologies for temporarily derailing this thread.

It's a standard Bock size 8.

FWIW, I have a #6 titanium nib by Bock, and find it quite wet and smooth - hope you're able to get this sorted soon!
