Preventing Spilled Ink!

I haven't - yet - managed to tip over a bottle of ink, but I can imagine doing so - I seem to be prone to spilling liquids at any opportunity. Using such a clamp - and avoiding tightening down the clamp so hard that it breaks the bottle, lol - is indeed a great idea, Marshall11. I like the idea of building a bottle/sample vial stabilizer out of Lego blocks, too, but don't have any spare Lego "parts" to make such a thing.

For sample vials, which are quite easily tipped over, I use a pewter candlestick holder. The vials fit in it nicely and the holder is heavy enough to keep the vial in place and upright while I'm filling a pen:

The handi-clamp idea is very clever, and I'm going to try that next time!

For the sample vials I put them in an empty ink bottle; the mouth of the jar isn't big enough for them to rattle around much.

I store my bottles of ink in the bottom of a small Plano tackle box. Naturally its full of ink bottles so not much room for a bottle to tip over.

You can bet that when the third guy who tries the clamp method and the clamp slips sending ink all over his wife's new white sofa that somebody is going to be named in a divorce. Remember - what can go wrong will go wrong.

Absolutely right!

I have a friend with MS who avoids bottled ink due to fear of accidentally knocking the bottle over - this could be great for her!

I just have my wife hold my bottle down if needed.

I just love it when we spend quality time together.

Here are my Lego bottle and vial holders.

The bottle holder is currently configured for a Noodler's bottle, but being Lego, I can easily reconfigure it for any other bottle.

I went to the local Lego store, and bought a small tub of bricks. That was enough to make 1 bottle holder and 4 vial holders. To get the most bricks that you can, you gotta put the bricks together to pack well. And you NEED to make a bill of materials of what bricks you need, so you only get the bricks you need, and not waste.

And I do all my ink loading inside a cookie tray, to contain any spills and drips.
