What Is Your Best Frankenpen?

I have a late 20s Sheaffer Balance in Jade Green with a Marine Green cap and a later (probably 1930s or 1940s) Sheaffer Feathertouch 5 nib. The barrel is cracked, but it writes so well that I just can't part with it. Nice and juicy and it's very comfortable to use. I'll try to take a pic of it sometime.

I flattened a piece of brass sheet metal from Orchard and bent it into the shape of a nib body with a dowel and a hammer. Then, i cut out the shank, the tip, and the slits with sharp titanium coated scissors. Then, I filed the sharp edges.

Delta Titanio Galassia Orange.

 

Had 2 nibexchanges fom Delta, i hated all 3 and sold the pen.

Later obtained one with bended nib for a ridiculous small price

via ebay, and fitted it with several no6 nibs. It ended with a

nice moderate adorned steelnib which does not disturb the theme,

and is regulary in rotation as i like the design a lot (save the original nibs

Performance of course).

 

Thank you for sharing this. I was about to purchase another nib from Delta for my Horsepower. I have an EF and really want a stub or broad. I am considering fitting a Goulet No. 6 stub to it.

 

Were your nibs on the Titanio difficult to remove?

Wow. I wish I had a handwriting like that. I was changed over from a lefty to a righty as a kid so I only print. My script is abysmal. If I had a handwriting like that, I would never put the pen down.

I am so sorry that you had to go through that. I did as well, but I guess I was just too stubborn. Thankfully by the time I was in 3rd grade, another teacher - who was also a lefty - helped me develop my writing. It boils my blood when I hear of stories like yours. Changing a child's "handedness" affects everything in a child's life, including their creativity, their intellect, etc. Thankfully, children are resilent and many - and it sounds like you are one of them - are able to adapt and grow beyond.

My first Frankenpen was to put a Goulet stub nib on a Jinhao x450.

 

I succumbed to the temptation again. Yesterday, I put another Goulet stub on a Monteverde Prima.

 

And I am intending to put a #6 14K cursive italic nib on a Delta Horsepower.

Wow, that's really cool! Does it work well? Is it a stub music nib or does it flex, like Noodler's music nib?

I put this photo in another post, these were RB de Omas, I prefer to put the nibs that I use the most, the sections of ebonita are temporary until I can make the sections of the pens as it is in the center.
