Lifelong Fountain Pen User Showing Off Collection!

Hi there!

Lifelong fountain pen user here, longtime lurker but never registered. I thought you'd like to see my extensive collection (one pen).

I grew up in Europe, where we were required to use fountain pens. I kept into the habit, especially through college and graduate school. In my career as securities analyst, I take notes extensively, which requires having a good pen. A nicely broken-in fountain pen is still flowing smoothly after 8 hours of notetaking at a conference, while a ballpoint pen makes my hand and arm hurt. A good fountain pen feels like I am writing on silk.

This Waterman pen isn't the most exotic, historic, or expensive, but it is irreplaceable to me. I've had it for 15+ years. Over time, I've bought another few pens to replace it, but I've managed to lose the replacements, getting only about 1-2 years out of each. This one is getting increasingly chipped up and in need of repair and refurbishment but functionally, it is in fantastic shape.

I'm going to post in the "repairs and custom" forum. I'd like to have it wrapped in Carbon fiber, or perhaps get a custom barrel and cap made.

Thanks for hosting this site.

Hi from Pittsburgh! :W2FPN:

So, what model is your pen? I don't know much about Watermans (more of a vintage Parker girl, myself), but from the photo that one looks quite attractive.

Welcome !

A good, smooth fountain pen is more than a joy. It is rescue. For me, it was the Parker 45

in college. Without hand cramping, I was better at concentrating and did not have to choose

what to write into my notes. Consequently, I was able to fulfill my potential as a brilliant

student. :lticaptd: (Okay. The older I get, the better I was.)

Welcome!

That is truly a special pen thanks for sharing it. Considering how much use you have had out of it I'm sure it's worth a great deal to you.

I personally wouldn't get it repaired or customized as I think in it's current state it is truly unique; every chip and every scratch tells a story. However if you got a fancy custom barrel and cap point on it, it would devalue it from a sentimental point of view.

Hey Show-off ehh Guerc, and welcome to FPN

I like Watermans, Started out with one I got from my Grandfather some 45 yrs ago...

Now I have several other brands with great pens, but Waterman stays one of my loves...

Enjoy
