Pen Or Stylus?

I know what you're going to say... what is a story about using a stylus on a tablet doing here? I thought the following article was an interesting discussion on a tech site. BTW, this comes after a rumor that Apple might be developing an Apple stylus.

Stylus on tablet vs pen on paper. You know what you would use, right? :-)

What's a "tablet" ?

tablet, you know it a Writing Pad. Made with paper, stabled together.

Well, it could be a wooden one. A sort of frame, with an inset of colored wax. That would also explain the stylus....

I think the article's most compelling line is that the tablet / stylus combo makes handwriting not look all that accurate. If a stylus was more like a pen that we are accustomed to (and there is a Starwalker like that) and the device could have feedback / friction it would make for a more realistic writing experience and more accurate / legible writing. Samsung is getting better with their multi-level pressure S-pen technology and the day they digitize the Note series to have "vintage flex" mode will make a lot of people sit up and go "ooh!"

  • 1 year later...

This is an interesting thread in hindsight - that first post was kicked off over a year ago.

Apple Pencil, with custom pressure sensitivity curve with ProCreate art app. There could be thicker lines than this (much thicker) - but I prefer a more subtle look.

I suppose this has been coming ever since the Etch-a-Sketch replaced pen-and-ink drawing. If richiwalt can't find anything missing, he has my condolences, but not my sympathy.

Sandy, do you air dry or oven dry your cuneiform?

Is Mesopotamian mud all that much better?
