Lamy Nexx: Is It Harder To Find?

In a different Nexx topic, someone posted a photo of the lime cap version. Tempting, but for now I'm stopping with the pen buying in case I get to go to the Chicago Pen Show this year.

Kind offer. Thanks also for showing the comparison of USD to Euros.

I have just seen new colours on the Nexx announced at La Couronne du Comte. He has a whole range of colours.

I am, recently took it out of roulation.

And by chance I saw an acquaintance of mine using one this evening.

She loved the preformed grip and the wider barrel. She found it rather ugly, though.

If it helps, in the UK the 'Nexx' has been available for probably the last 5 years in several of our main pen dealers/stationers on the high street. I noticed the main colours of the caps stocked by those shops are, lime green, yellow and pink.

Also that the price seems to be GBP (£) 1 under the price of the Safari.

I use mine fairly often, it's a pity that the cap does not post too securely, probably due to the shape of the barrel, i.e. triangular.

Glad to know European stores are stocking the Nexx. It isn't stocked at Goulet Pens anymore or Jet Pens. Amazon has some, but I'd rather give my pen business elsewhere.

While you guys are busy with nexx I just got meself a Smile last month. I believe it is similar to Nexx only with different cap. Liking it much. My first Lamy FP. Well I like it so much that a few days ago I bought a Safari Neon Lime. I do like the grippier grip on smile but I do wonder how it will fare in the medium term.

Re "shea2812" concern about how the Nexx's grip will fare over time, my version is from around 2010/11 and the grip has not changed at all, no stickyness, no peeling, really no change from new.

Thanks for the input. Good to know that I do not have to worrry so much about the longevity of the section. I do give is a wipe once in a while with damp cloth just to be sure.

I am neutral as to the look of the Smile's cap. But the less rigid grip on it is miles better than the one on regular safari, not that I have any issue with rigid setting on them. I suppose cleaning after a dip in an ink bottle for Smile and Nexx just take a little more work than on Safaris. I do find that older Lamy productions perform better, my latest Lamy which is a Vista is a little underwhelming. I will give it a little more time though before doing some tweak to the F nib. On the other hand, that will not stop me from buying one again or recommending one to friends. Valuewise Lamy has lost a bit to Pilot Metro/MR I think. Around here Pilot MR retails for half Safari RRP.

Knowing how Smile/Nexx feels in the hand I do wonder what Lamy will come up next for that class of FP. Not easy to beat what is already so good.
