Lamy Nexx: Is It Harder To Find?

Misfit

Recommended Posts

I was looking for the Lamy Nexx, and didn't find it at gouletpens.com, and only two colors at jetpens.com (the special editions coral and the metal opal green). There are plenty on amazon.com. When searching, the British sites listed a metal Nexx color as anthracite, while Amazon called it black.

Silly, but I like the name anthracite better.

It seems like the Nexx is not showing up as much (US sites). Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed this?

Goulet Pens used to sell them, but dropped them sometime in the past 12 months. I don't know if Lamy has discontinued them or if they just weren't selling that well, but... Either way it seems they're not being sold by a lot of retailers any more...

I did find them at Lamy's site. I have two, but for some reason the metal version Nexx with black cap is appealing to me. It would cost $36 and be named anthracite from amazon.co.uk, or $33 and change and be named black from amazon.com. Both prices include shipping as the U.S. site is not Amazon fulfilled, and there is no free shipping from UK Amazon to the U.S.

Upon further reading the word anthracite was included at amazon.com. Funny though, anthracite is a type of coal, and is described as having luster.

They are on sale in the stationary shops in the UK, currently, Jan 2015.

Price is slightly less than the Safari.

Most commonly seen is the lime green cap version.

They are not discontinued, as a matter of fact Lamy has released a new color, it is on its main website.

Thank you Anne-Sophie, good to know Lamy is making new colors for the Nexx. Thanks to all who posted European sites selling the Nexx. I ended up buying one at amazon.com. I'd rather give pen business to pen businesses, but I clicked buy before seeing these posts. I think the seller might be in Japan. The pen won't arrive (according to Amazon) until mid February. The seller is PilotFish. They have a great price on Lamy nibs, under $7. But shipping is $8 on everything. Since I got the Nexx and the nib, shipping was $10. Sigh. I did have some credit points for &3. Woo hoo!

I just purchased exactly the model you are looking for from Pengallery. I believe they still carry out this model and it is still in the market.

I like the Safari/AL-star, CP1 and 2000 designs, but I really don't care about Lamy other designs. The Nexx is not one of their worst, but still... They really need new "Bauhaus"-inspired designs. They keep coming with new pens but they are skipping the fountain pen versions.

Definitely not discontinued. Today I went with my nephew to the postal office (which also has some pens and papers and stationery) to buy a school pen. After trying about ten different pens from numerous brands he narrowed it down to Lamy Nexx and Lamy Safari. Then the lady handed him for both pens a display stand with 25 pens and colors each to pick his final color/pen (including LEs and new colors)

Nah, the Nexx is still alive :-)

Greetings,

Michael

A lot of school kids use them in Germany. Sometimes more than Safaris. They cost around 10 - 15€ and are really nice.

I personally like the Nexx pens better than the Safari - larger "diameter" (if you can talk about diameter with a kinda triangular cross-section) suits my hand size better. Wish I'd discovered that while Lamy were still selling a wider range of cap colours than they do currently ...

Nexx pens are great!

Love the look, love the grip.

Lamy is coming out with yellow Citron this year, that makes 7 different colours ;)

My Lamy Nexx M arrived! Turns out PilotFish is in the UK.

The packaging for Lamy pens that come from Europe are not the usual box I see from US sources.

I also got a 1.5mm nib with this order. Now to decide which ink to use with it. I have a bottle of black Levenger ink. Or I could choose some color. If I put the italic nib on, I'll choose a color ink rather than black.

The Lamy Nexx M in Anthracite (black)

Hope you enjoy the pen. I have the same model, along with a regular Nexx in blue. Great writers, comfortable in the hand. Underrated, in my opinion.

Let us know how you like yours.

Thank you. I have the opal green Nexx M and the coral Nexx. I liked writing with them. I still bought more Safaris and Al-Stars. Recently I decided to see what was going on with the Nexx, and started this post.

The converter I ordered came today from Swiss Post. I had no idea it was coming from Zurich. Oh amazon.com you are everywhere.

Once I decide on the ink and nib, I'll post again.

  • 2 weeks later...

I can confirm the Lamy Nexx M is very available on amazon.de in a wide range of colors: lime, anthrazit, blue, opal green, pink, red, olive, coral, neon orange, citron. They all seem to run about €11-€14 which roughly translates to $12-$16. I'm coming home to the States for a couple of weeks at the end of March, so send me a PM if you want me to pick one (or several) up for you.
