Green ink - it's ecologically friendly!

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

On topic for me: filled a pen (Edison Nouvelle Premiere, medium steel nib) with Dromgooles Blue Steel. A nice color. Writes ok on Moleskine and regular paper (Hammermill 28 lb inkjet paper). Shades nicely in my check register and on checks. Have to say it didn't "wow" me, but I like it. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to get a bottle like I would for a Japanese ink shop special Sailor ink. But I'll use the sample up for sure.

The color didn't wow me, the performance did. It is water resistant, easy to clean, never clogs and starts up instantly.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I haven't tested it's water resistance, but I'd agree it writes very well. And I can't complain at all about the color. It is an interesting blue, not really turquoise, not royal blue by a long shot. A page of it looks very nice, very readable. So it has grown on me.

Guess I'll have to be a good FPNer and work up a review. Maybe this weekend in my breaks between shoveling snow. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I don't recall who it was inquiring about glycerin, but here is an example of adding too much and significantly increasing dry time. This is Endima blue-black that I was playing with. Glycerin did make it slightly brighter blue, but this drop has been drying for 4 days. It's still 100% wet and the "swirl" to the left still has a wet-like sheen that would surely smudge.IMG_20150206_001107.jpg

That probably was me in another thread. 4 days seems a bit excessive for something to dry. I didn't know glycerin could end up doing that.

How much did you put? 50-50?

8 drops from the flip-top bottle according to my scribbled "notes." I did not measure the ink - 1 ml or so, I'd guess.

Is there a green ink concentrate lurking in the future?? The inkwell is stunning - looks Italian or French.

Yes. We're releasing them one at a time to make the process more manageable. We don't have the resources to release a whole range of inks at once and we were really struggling when we were doing the Ambers and the Cashmeres.

Current order is:

Blue

Black

Bright Blue

Green

Red

The future of the concentrates does depend a lot on the feedback from the Superpinks. If nobody likes it we won't pursue it. We still have the powdered inks that we haven't given up on as well as the conventional liquid inks all in various stages of development.

Personally, I think the concentrate has a lot of advantages over the powdered ink but I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys think of it.

From the point of the consumer, I can see benefits although I think they're mostly perceived benefits. I know some folks had "issues" with the powder escaping the sachet or poofing out when they mixed. Fortunately I anticipated this, took steps to corral the powder and had no problems; the average ink consumer might not even think to do this and then be unhappy with the ink/BlackStone because of it. I thought the mixing was fun. Concentrate would involve mixing, too, so my inner nerd is content.

The concentrate would be more expensive to ship; would it be practical to offer both concentrate and powder?

Looking forward to trying out the latest BlackStone iteration!

While we have ink nerds and geeks here, the general customer wants as little muss and fuss as possible.

And the big problem with concentrate (over just ink) is that people will tend to ignore the word "concentrate" and focus on the word "ink" and simply load up their pens with the concentrate.

Even Pink Stoners often ignore Ambers' instruction "you must dilute" and just fill a pen with concentrate.

Human nature being what it is, I just want to point this out.

And I have this experience with my absinthes. Says on the bottle "dilute with 3 to 5 parts cold water". But I still get emails from people who try to drink it straight up.

When are the absynth samples being shipped? Being a rule-breaker can be fun to see how far the ink can be pushed. Not advised in a nice pen, though.

I'd be willing to take one for the team and test absinthes. Can't promise a cogent review, though!

At 136º proof, I don't recommend putting absinthe (correct spelling!) into a pen. I think it would write too light anyway. And at that proof needs water or your palette will be adversely effected by the alcohol. I'm not allowed to sell direct to the public. Also don't want to break any rules here, so you can check out my web site www.delawarephoenix.com for more info. You won't hallucinate.
