My son just walked in and looked at the picture, he asked, "What's this"... Now he's singing...

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the purchase of this AMAZING ink well. I absolutely love it. It's a work of art as well as a functional ink well. I fnially got a chance to use it tonight and although it's hard to tell in the pictures it's about 2/3 full of our new Blackstone ink concentrate Code Name SHB04.

Samples are now ready for testing and I don't know if it belongs in here with the powdered inks but as usual Amber will be organising things.

It's almost full of ink but the light was playing tricks on the camera.

Woohoo! Looks like a blue ink. Glad you are enjoying the inkwell and the pictures look great.

Is there a green ink concentrate lurking in the future?? The inkwell is stunning - looks Italian or French.

Yes. A dark bright green and a dark blackish green similar to Green Cashmere both lay ahead.

I think the inkwell was made in Scotland or Ireland. Somewhere surprising.

The paperweight is a John Deacon creation from SCOTLAND.

http://www.glass.co.nz/deacons.htm

John Deacons and his son Craig make many designs of millefiori paperweights and regularly introduce new designs. The paperweight bottle shown below follows a long tradition in Scotland. Note the Scottish Thistle signature cane in the center of the stopper.

John Deacons (Scotland): One of the living Scottish masters, John Deacons began his art glass career at Strathearn Glass in 1967 and later worked at Perthshire for more than ten years. In 1978 he started his own lines of paperweights, including J Glass and Saint Kilda. His work is precise and artistic.

PS at least one person was worried that the ink well was too girly. I hope that now that you are using it, you can say if it is too feminine or JUST WRITE.

On topic for me: filled a pen (Edison Nouvelle Premiere, medium steel nib) with Dromgooles Blue Steel. A nice color. Writes ok on Moleskine and regular paper (Hammermill 28 lb inkjet paper). Shades nicely in my check register and on checks. Have to say it didn't "wow" me, but I like it. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to get a bottle like I would for a Japanese ink shop special Sailor ink. But I'll use the sample up for sure.
