Diamine Shimmering Seas is a well-behaved lovely blue-black. I've come to like it in town. I know they're not reading this, but kudos to my childhood friends for having gifted me a whole bottle for my graduation. I wouldn't have a shimmer ink by myself, not even in sample form, but this is quite nice and I've actually added a couple of other Diamine Shimmertastic inks to my ink wish list. ................. Just kidding, they're not a couple...

Diamine Shimmertastic Shimmering Seas in Wing Sung 698 with Pilot Pluminix F nib (hurrah for this combo!).

Diamine Midnight in OEM Chinese piston filler F nib (since it can't be flushed completely clean I guess this is my designated Diamine Midnight pen from now on).

NOTE: If you have trouble distinguishing the colors, from the left: Midnight / Shimmering Seas / Midnight and so on.

WOW that's interesting. Those color are similar.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I'm blushing!

You know, your fish still has the position of honor on my desk. I imagine it cheering for me when I'm tackling the bureaucracy of PhD applications. Many thanks again!

I'm sorry to hear that!

If you can excuse a comparison between visual artists and writers, I'm sharing a story with a writing community on the Internet, but while I've been writing chapters non-stop since November 2017, I haven't been able to write consistently for three weeks now.

In the past decade I've been sharing short stories with other amateur writers I've experienced such periods of stagnation several times. I've learned not to fight these times too harshly and to focus on something else for a while. The inspiration will strike us again.

I couldn't agree more. What we resist more than often persists.

I've "accepted" the situation and know that I'll put pen & ink on paper again in good time.

Thanks for the support.

Yesterday I shuffled a few inks around and for the first time since January 2017, when I bought Pelikan 4001 Blue-Black, I don't have a pen inked with an iron gall ink. I'm starting to feel anxious about the lack of back-up...

Pen: Pluminix F.

Ink: Rohrer & Klingner Salix.

Is Salix dark enough to be in this thread? Welp. Too late.

Rohrer & Klingner Salix (iron gall).

Somehow this one hasn't made it on here yet.... the illustrious Sailor Souboku blue-black!

Most find blue-blacks boring, but I always keep at least one inked up!

Personal favorites are Sailor Souboku, Robert Oster Thunderstorm, and Kobe #51. Other than Souboku, my workhorses are Rohrer & Klingner Verdigris and Callifolio Byzance as they clean out of vintage pens pretty easily and are nice and moody.

Colorverse Extra Dimension and 3Oysters Navy Blue are very similar and both are really lovely. Really liking Taccia Aoguro which is something I picked up this week and I could see myself picking up a bottle soon. The IG inks at the bottom and Salix aren't too terribly exciting, but I do like the 3 KWZI inks. Salix and Akkerman #10 are really unpleasant to use for me.

Ack! No Stipula?! I keep wanting to try the 1864, though, and that Nurebairo looks very intriguing.

It's hard work to tell which is Old Harry when everybody's got boots on.

Noting that many of my images have vanished, I am attempting to make amends.

PS: Oops. Way too early in the morning. This is not the Black thread. Deadly error.

Now corrected.

Goodness, Tas, thanks for your offer - from July! Just checked back on this thread today and saw it. Messaged you just now.

I did recently get the 1864 and have been enjoying it a lot.
