Visconti Rembrandt Review
Initial Thoughts- I was given this pen as a gift and my first thoughts were just amazing and it completely took my breath away! the boxing is the standard Visconti housing with the plastic sleeve then the fake leather box where the cartridge and pen come, along with the glossy brochure!
Score: 10/10
Appearance- I love the nice orange that comes along with some dark spots but it gives the pen character. The section is stainless steel along with the nib. The body is an orange celluloid. The cap features Visconti’s ‘My Pen’ system where you can interchange the Visconti logo with your zodiac sign, a gemstone or whatever else Visconti offers. The cap also includes Visconti’s patented spring- loaded clip with the Visconti emblem.
Score: 10/10
Weight and Dimensions— Below I pulled up a couple of measurements from an online forum:
Overall size - 140mm x 15mm
Body - 125mm x 13mm
Cap - 65mm x 15mm
Weight- 30g
For me this feels like a perfect match because of the nice width that feels comforting around my hands and after I have finished using it, it doesn’t feel like I’ve just finished using a thin little pen that makes my hands ache! For some people this might be massive.
Score: 9.8/10
Writing Experience — This is a JOY to write with! it always feels like I barely need to apply any pressure to let the ink cascade across the page! This is one of my most expensive pens and it for sure was definitely worth the money! I currently have the Visconti Stainless Steel Fine nib. I have no complaints about it!
Score: 10/10
Filling system — The Rembrandt is a cartridge converter pen and it comes with a converter. it’s pleasant but there is nothing really to say about it!
Score: 9/10
Price and Value — The pen was one hundred GBP but I’m not sure about the USA or Canada or anywhere else. This pen is for sure worth the money!
Overall — Great pen for its value and I would rate it 9.679/ 10.000

Thanks for the nice review. I have the Rembrandt in Ivory white. They are beautiful pens that are well made and solid. I love the engraving on the cap band and nib, and the innovative magnetic cap closure mechanism. It looks ad feels like a much more expensive pen than it cost.

Thanks for the review, I'm glad that some people have had a positive experience with this pen. If you're from the UK as the original poster is, I highly recommended buying this pen from continental European sellers as it's cheaper. We seem to get the short end of the stick in the UK for Visconti prices. I got mine from La Couronne De Comte in the Netherlands for 110 Euros posted (£80)

For my part I don't get on with mine for a number of reasons.

The metal cap band came off when taking the pen out of my penbox - it appears it's just friction fit without any adhesive.

The Visconti sticker on the clip has started to curl at one end, and I can see it coming off in the future.

I find the raised ridge in the metal section slightly too sharp to be comfortable.

My biggest bugbear though is that the Bock nib unit is too dry and skippy. I'm on my second nib unit now and still having problems.

It's a shame as I like the general design of the pen, and the patterned acrylic is lovely. A better section and a wetter nib would see me buying more of the Visconti painter line

I have a Visconti Rembrandt in blue with a Fine nib. I found that it was a bit of a hard starter and dry. After living with it for a year, I sent it off to Pendleton Brown for his Butter Line Stub modification, and now this pen is always in my rotation. Perfect ink flow and I love the fine stub. Very smooth nib now.

Favorite pen/ink pairings: Edison Brockton w/EF 14K gold nib and Noodler's 54th Massachusetts; Visconti Pinanfarina w/EF chromium conical nib and Noodler's El Lawrence; Sheaffer Legacy w/18k extra fine inlaid nib and Noodler's Black; Sheaffer PFM III fine w/14k inlaid nib and Noodler's Black; Lamy 2000 EF with Noodler's 54th Massachusetts; Franklin Christoph 65 Stablis w/steel Masuyama fine cursive italic and DeAtramentis Document Blue; Pilot Decimo w/18k fine nib and Pilot Blue Black; Franklin Christoph 45 w/steel Masuyama fine cursive italic and Noodler's Zhivago; Edison Brockton EF and Noodler's El Lawrence; TWSBI ECO EF with Noodler's Bad Green Gator.

Thanks for the review. I also own the same pen, the Rembrandt in the Orange, and I love it too! I recently purchased the same pen in the ballpoint pen, and these two have now become my everyday pens. Great review!

Hi,

I have a story about the Visconti Rembrandt. I have got a Visconti Rembrandt from my colleagues at work as a gift. One of my colleagues ordered the pen online, she ordered the black version. However after receiving the pen she sent it back to the retailer because the pen had "stains". The retailer explained to here that it were no stains but the marble pattern from the pen.

Let the ink flow freely
