J. Herbin - Terre De Feu

Forgive my reviewing an ink that has been reviewed thoroughly before. This is my first review and I wanted to start with an ink that I have a lot of experience with.

 

The written review was done in the Rhodia dotpad. The Titmouse sketch was done with J. Herbin's Terre de Feu and Cacao du Bresil in a Stillman & Birn Gamma Series sketchbook.

 

Edited to add color wash detail, which I previously forgot to upload. Reasonable care was taken to ensure color accuracy.

Beautiful artwork! Well, I not dislike this ink, although I still need to give it some trials. The Parker Urban fine nib was to fine for it, I find this ink a bit dry.

The sketch is marvelous!

On my screen Terre de feu swatch looks a dead ringer for Waterman Absolute Brown.

On the other hand I am surprised Alt-Bordeaux looks so dark and brown - I'd always thought of it as faded pinkish purple...

Jason, a sketch like that could help J Herbin sell a lot of ink. They should commission you to do demos. Charming titmouse, and I love the bokeh effect of the background.
